# Honey...... We have found that Honey is addicted to digging for BEES! We have SUPER GIANT BEES that live in holes in the ground here in our yard. And even though she's been stung more than once (made me SOOOOO scared!!! She yelped BIG TIME) she goes right back to digging. Anyone else have trouble like this? I would not let the dog do that of course because the bees might decide to swarm the dog and she could have a serious allergic reaction. ## Honey's mom · 2008-09-26T16:02:34.000Z We try our BEST to keep her from doing this....I even though about putting something down on the lawn to get rid of them but worried about the chemicals hurting Honey. But of course the Bees will all be gone soon enough. I just dont get it. The bees are smaller than them, they make sound, they're fast, sounds like very interesting prey to a Shiba to me, especially since they're in the ground and they have to dig for it. She goes absolutely deaf when she does this, won't respond to my commands at all. Honey has caught and eaten a Grasshopper. She didnt seem to get sick from it. I try to stop her before she eats the creep crawlies....but she is SO FAST! hahah Should I be really worried when she gobbles down that sort of thing??? ## sujewel · 2008-09-26T18:34:49.000Z Why would she get sick from eating a Grasshopper? The bee thing is different in that Honey could be allergic to the sting, just like humans. However, as disgusting as it might be, eating creepy crawlies is not going to harm her. It's technically protein! LOL. My cat eats flies constantly. Mika tries, but she keeps opening her mouth and letting the damn things fly out instead of swallowing. ## sunyata · 2008-09-26T18:39:25.000Z Bella chases after bumble bees. But has only been stung twice. Luckily, she has never tried to eat one. She does however, eat stink bugs, crickets, flies, moths, and spiders. (I tell her to leave the spiders alone, but she just does not differentiate between the creep-crawlies.) Nola likes to go after ants and beetles. She also has a thing about flies, but can not quite get up high enough to snag them! I think they have a blast 'hunting' bugs. I always have some on hand in the fridge for salads or snacks. Well Honey got into some of it while I had it on the table. She now goes CRAZY everytime I pull it out of the fridge. I have found that baby Carrots and bananas work WONDERS in our training efforts. We almost have the "come" command down. (at least around the house and yard. I took a look at the ingredients in imitation crab. I've given up SO MANY things in my life.Candy, cheesecake, SODA! omg that was the hardest one!!!! But I dont go overboard.
