Well, we are off to bed at 10:00pm since we have to be up at 3am to leave for Colorado Springs. Ahi will be checked out by her specialist and if all looks good with her right knee she will have her other knee fixed tomorrow. Hilo and Kona will also be looked at by the vet to see if Kona's limp is anything to be concerned with and to see if we can get a proper diagnosis for Hilo... and maybe help his quality of life. Wish us luck - but most importantly wish Ahi luck! ----

A little update for everyone since Brad is away from the computer - Ahi is doing fine. They will be doing surgery on her other knee in a few hours. Thank god she is recovering well! Soon enough she will be back to her old self and enjoying her new yard with the rest of the pups!

## _dlroberts · 2008-05-16T15:21:21.000Z
That's great (and it kinda sucks). But mostly great.

## brandon_w (admin) · 2008-05-16T15:51:02.000Z

Well we made it home... it was a looooong day! Ahi is doing really well, she recover much quicker this time from the anesthesia and she seemed to remember the routine. As we left the surgeon was out front and was BLOWN AWAY that Ahi was actually walking out on her own and using her the knee she he had just worked on. She is really amazing! Kona is fine, his hips and knees are perfect, the doctor agreed that is was probably pano. Hilo's new diagnosis is not very interesting, and not really full of hoe or anything. He basically said Hilo is "just weird". He said that he just has extremely poor conformation, like being bowlegged in humans. He had nothing to say about his ears or teeth but that is because he is just an orthopedics guy. We take Hilo BACK again on Tuesday the 27th to have his teeth resealed and cleaned and to get another opinion on what to do to make him more comfortable regarding his teeth. Really this is the only thing that effects his quality of life, so we plan to focus on that [his teeth are sensitive]. I took a few pics and will post them as soon as they are uploaded. ---- We also walked Kona and Hilo at "Garden Of The Gods" while Ahi was being prepared for surgery... it was nice. We found Kona's calling - he is an AMAZING pack dog! We had him wear Ahi's pack because he was bouncing off the wall... at first there was very little weight in the pack, but I gradually added rocks to it until it was close to the most Ahi had ever carried [Ahi is a great pack dog too] and Kona was completely unphased by it! It was really amazing... I mean he just kept going right a long w/ not complaints! I have some pic from this too - they are uploading now... I'll post them to a separate thread when they are done. ---- Anyway, thanx for all the good wishes! Now we just have a recovery period of 2 months and Ahi will be back to her crazy self! We are sooooooooo excited to get her back. Oh, and I asked the surgeon about how much Ahi will be able to do after full recovery, he said in 4 months she should be able to do anything she did before - that means mushing, packing and just being crazy in her Ahi way. I'm so happy about that! Thanx guys!!! ----

Fantastic news! GO AHI! Can't wait to see the spam! Did all that happen to Hilo from being shipped or is it a congenital thing?

## glacier · 2008-05-17T04:17:38.000Z
Awesome news! Get better soon, Ahi!

## Romi (admin) · 2008-05-17T04:51:17.000Z
Great news Brad!! Im glad Ahi is doing well!!! I can't wait until she's back to her old self and watching all her crazy vids!

## Leonberger (admin) · 2008-05-17T06:10:59.000Z
Great news about Ahi and Kona! Not so much about Hilo, but the new sealing will improve is quality of life and make him more comfortable, and that is good.

## tobyshiba · 2008-05-17T11:11:11.000Z
Glad Ahi is doing good! But poor Hilo ... :( Hopefully everything works out.

## Greensage · 2008-05-17T12:03:40.000Z
This is wonderful news. Special kids find special parents! Your wings are filling up with all those feathers you have earned. Sending all my healing thoughts to all of you. Ron

That's fantastic Brad! Big hugs to the Ahi monster! I think it may be time to buy Kona his own pack! Perhaps I'm misreading you, but it kinda sounds like Hilo's situation isn't all that bad. If an orthopedic surgeon said he wasn't very interesting then I would be pretty happy about that. I'm glad you guys made it home safe and sound and you got to see the Garden of the Gods.

## brada1878 (admin) · 2008-05-17T14:10:38.000Z
Thanx for the warm wished guys! :o) ---- So Ahi is super grumpy today... she is not gonna make this round much fun for us I can already tell. :o\ At least this is the beginning of the end for her situation and thing can only improve. :o) ---- Hilo's situation is not bad, it just sux we can't fix the problem for him... but, at the end of the day, I dunno that he even knows he has a problem so its not big deal. ---- Here are some picks from the trip [nothing to interesting]... Hilo at 5am - kinda pissed we got him up so early: Ahi post surgery, recovering: ----

## ljowen123 (moderator) · 2008-05-17T15:35:37.000Z
Poor Ahi - I hope she feels better soon. I just love Hilo - even grumpy.

## tsukitsune (moderator) · 2008-05-17T17:48:47.000Z
Ahi's countdown! 1 month and 29 days!

## _dlroberts · 2008-05-17T18:51:08.000Z
Hehe, I love the grumpy Hilo pic too. :-) Poor Ahi. I bet she has no idea why this is happening to her. The good thing is she'll not only be back to herself in no time, but she'll be pain free! Hugs from Lucy, Joey and I. Take good care of her!

## brada1878 (admin) · 2008-05-17T20:12:10.000Z
She has no idea why this is happening, that's really the hard part. I think it is probably like being abducted by aliens... She goes to this place, everyone is real nice, then she wakes up and has no idea what happened to several hours of her life, all she knows is her leg hurts [instead of her butt]. ----

## tsukitsune (moderator) · 2008-05-17T20:20:30.000Z
lol!!!!!!! and a bit disturbing. p.s. 5am Hilo pic made my day.
