Hey everyone, i was just wondering what methods you guys use to clean your dogs after a day of fun. i keep my shiba inu indoors so its important to me (and my mom lol ) to keep her clean so i usually wipe her down with Perfect Coat deordorizing bath wipes. I also use Waterless deshedding shampoo and conditioner by furminator and just wipe her down with a paper towel. today was the first time ever that i watched her play in the sprinklers, she usually HATES them (and pretty much all water haha.)

Depends on just HOW fun! Running in the Woods Fun, Swimming Fun, Digging in Soil Fun we just towel off, sun-dry and do a thorough combing for ticks. (I have a three-comb detickifying protocol for the Boy's thick coat: undercoat rake, thick&thin greyhound comb, then flea comb- he is a patient guy...) Usually the mud comes right off him when it dries and he never, ever smells bad, so we only do a full bath if we havent had one in a while or if the day was actually Rolling-in-Dead-Animals-Fun. :D Snow Fun we towel. Wrestling and Slobbering Fun we towel if needed. I have Quick Bath wipes for small yuckies. Sage is the best-smelling dog I have ever met, and I don't know why. He grooms himself, he eats well, he is glossy and soft, but I only full -wash him a few times a year.

We usually just towel off and then brush once dry to get any lingering dirt off. If it is really bad then we do baths. My two are getting their baths tonight before big meetup day tomorrow...they are NOT going to be happy with me :P

I have resigned myself to living a little more dirty these days until all the [endless] shedding is done, but all 3 DID get their "seasonal" bath 2 days ago, just to encourage some more fur loss. They are all soft and smell delicious, and I was pretty surprised that the boys weren't dirty at all- the water was basically clear the whole time. Miki is apparently a dirt magnet. Her undercoat is so plush and sponge-like, I never got the water to run clear or hair-free. Either way, we don't do much cleanup after outdoor fun because they never seem too dirty. A few wiped paws/forelegs or a paper towel to the slobber or dirt on the head is all the maintenance they need. Do you like those deodorizing bath wipes? I was thinking in investing in some just to make that "just bathed" scent and texture last a little longer. Do you really have to scrub them with the wipes or just do a quick once-over? Do you have to use more than one per dog? Does it leave any residue on their coats? I'm always looking for new stuff to try on the pups :)

Kristin, if all goes well, mine will be getting baths tonight too... They are going to hate me. :-( I use baby wipes if they happen to have muddy paws (which Nola often does). But normally a good brushing will get out any lingering dirt clumps. I only bathe them 2 or 3 times a year... or if they happen to roll in something REALLY nasty.

Nicole... I've also resigned myself to living with the house a little less tidy than I would like. Of course all of that has to change when Mom comes to visit in a couple weeks... then it's back to vacuuming a few times a week!

Yeah, I'm also interested to know how you like those deodorizing bath wipes... I see them in stores and wonder how much good they could actually do.
