Having looked at all these pictures of everyones gorgeous pups. I so want a shikoku for Moto.

Jay and I have every intention of getting another dog when we move out of our apartment. But I always assumed we would rescue another Shiba.

I didn't know anything about Shikoku.

They are so bloody beau…

And Brad, watching Ahi play  with your shiba makes me so envious!

*sigh*

I am coveting shikokus

LOL

I love Ahi, she is one of the sweetest neurotic dog I have ever met.  And LOVES to let you know what she is thinking.

A Shikoku would (probably) make a good playmate for a Moto, especially if you have them together when they are younger.

Shikokus can be a difficult breed tho, they are very energetic and smart. They also don't seem to rely on their humans as much as Shibas and will try to do things them selves - which can cause some problems. They require a lot of exercise (mental and physical) to keep them happy - it sounds like you do that with Moto now tho.

I say go for it, you will probably be on a waiting list for a while... So you can use that time to prepare.

I think these Japanese breeds are kinda addictive - I mean, I have 4! lol

Brad is the expert!

lol - I'm far from an expert. I mean you can spend a little time with Maui and see we are no experts. lol

LOL! Ronan is needy. Needy Ned. I can't be out of his sight! He's opposite Ahi only in that Ronan LIVES for attention. Other than that, he's a very cautious pup, very energetic, athletic, curious, smart, mischievous. alert, rough-playing, finicky eating - aka, typical Shikoku. Ronan has a heart of pure gold. While all this sounds wonderful, you've got to like really weird dogs. They have the most bizarre

habits!

I adore my quirky little boy.

It is official Jason and I have decided we are getting a shikoku next year. I think the tape of "Ahis favorite game" just put him over the edge. My husband whom I have had to talk into every pet we have, looked at me and said "I want one...Next year after we move"

Cool! I'm glad Ahi's shenanigans helped you guys make your choice.

Any reputable breeders in North America. Or are we importing?

## MommyofNiko · 2007-09-03T01:09:49.000Z
My husband and I just spent the evening with Brad, Jen and their pack.  My husband has officially fallen in love with Ahi, not more than Hilo though!  It is NEVER boring when Ahi is around!!

Thank you so much. Of course I have bookmarked all of these and already poured over every page twice.

I am in love.

Koyote Kennels doesn't actually breed them, though.  I've talked to her before.  She has two shikokus, a male and female, and bred two litters but they both had to be delivered by c-section and only one pup survived in each litter so she stopped.

I don't blame her. That had to be really traumatic.

Of course I already sent her an email. Peggy got back to me already and I told her I would definitely be interested in the next unspoken for litter.

Oh - yea, I was not sure about Koyote Kennels, but I think she is co-owner of Ahi's dad - that is why I added her to the list.

Well I will keep all posted on the progress of my attempted shikoku parenthood.
