I took Kuma to a Dog Training Club match last night. I had taken him once before as an 8 month old, where he did okay, but not great (a bit distracted). Now at 16 months, he concentrates much better through the distractions. We did pre novice, so all onlead but still judged very strict like novice. Anyway, we WON our match, which had about 8 dogs (against shelties, rotweillers, labs, collies, etc) with a 196.5 (a very good score). Pretty good for a Nihonken (Shikoku). We only lost a few points in the figure 8 and the fast heeling for a bit of lagging. But got perfect scores for the down and sit stays, the recall and fronts.
