I was talking to a woman in the dog park yesterday who was 'tempted' to adopt a boxer/pit mix at the local shelter except she thinks they will 'stink up my existance'. Those are literally her exact words. I told her she's better off letting someone who will love the dog without conditions adopt him. She stopped talking to me. ## scarlet · 2008-04-22T12:21:26.000Z Tsuk.... you crack me up. ## brandon_w (admin) · 2008-04-22T12:32:27.000Z Well pits don't shed stink out like Shibas and other double coated breeds do.  I would say that they do not get as stinky or oily as labs, but they can get a "dog smell" and sometimes leave a residue on your fingers.  When they get that dog smell, you wash them, and they smell fresh.  It's not really rocket science, but it might be too much for that lady.
