It would probably work, most effectively, for lost dogs...as for stolen dogs....well, the "gps locator" stamped across the device kind of gives it away. These companies would be smart to "disguise" it to look like a bark collar. Personally, I'm hoping they find a way to develop a gps locator the size of a microchip (at which point both my dog and kid will have one!).

If my Shiba was one who liked to run away a lot, or always dart for the door, I'd certainly think of investing in a GPS for him. If they do come up with a microchip size, then he would get one for sure.

I have a Garmin DC30 that works great. About $600 or so and you can add additional collars. I think training with a e-collar and a extended lead would be more efficeint (I know some of you frown on this) for off leash obedience. I put the e-collar on my own arm and it is less then a pinch and maybe a good pinch on highest setting.

The current GPS collars are so bulky, and spendy, not that you can put a price on your pet. I am eagerly waiting for something smaller and less obvious.

I'd love to get one microchip-sized - I don't think I'd be spending that much cash for a collar.
