So, I just had to share because even though it's gross it cracked me up, and I figured so many others had funny vet stories. I took Miso to the vet to get checked out for a rash/spot under his arm (turns out it's nothing), and of course before we got there I took him for a short walk to do his business. He took a nice long pee so I figured we were all clear. WRONG! The vet tech went to take his temperature and the second she stuck the thermometer in, he pooped all over the table and the thermometer! He missed the vet tech's hand by about a milimeter! I couldn't help laughing! Miso just got this look on his face like "oops!"

LOL! Poor Vet Tech. Bella did that once when she was having her digestive issues. Luckily the girl who was taking her temperature was a student and had seen it all (we were at a specialist's office at Virginia Tech). She was able to comfort Bella and laugh it off all at the same time. That girl is going to make one heck of a Vet. The last time we were at the vet, we had both Bella and Nola. Nola was getting her last round of shots, and Bella was getting an update on Bordetella. Nola went first. She was just as brave as could be, and licked up the canned food the vet put on the table to distract her. Then it was Bella's turn. Once we put her up on the table, she sat as she was taught. But she would not touch the food, and screamed like a little girl at the shot! Even after it was done, she limped around and cried for a good five minutes. (there was nothing wrong, just being a drama queen.) The vet and the tech died laughing at her. Poor thing. :) And of course, Nola went up to her and licked her nose as if to tell her that it will be okay.

My fallback funny vet story was when Tsuki had kennel cough, she was a wretched sight, and had to go into the vet for a saline injection for her fever, she got SO nervous that she pooped on the vet table, and out came a tag in the poop. The vet was reading "Made in Thailand", and I was like excuse me? She ate a tag, then pooped it out on the table! Too fun. Once we had a foster cat (well, kitten - 7 months old) and they were making sure both man jewels had dropped, and squeezed them - he let out the most HORRIFIC scream! It was HILARIOUS!! and sad, for him of course! But everyone in the waiting room heard it with precise clarity. They had dropped. :)

I had just finished weighing a stray cat during an exam (one of the petrified feral kitties that just sits there with wide eyes and lets you do anything but is ready to come unglued in a heartbeat) and was scruffing him while supporting his body under my right arm and holding him against me. I finished with the exam and returned him to his crate. As I resumed my tasks, I began to smell a definate poopy odor, which I thought to be from one of the hospitalized animals in the cages. My smock was clean, the animals in back were clean, I emptied the garbages and checked my shoes and still, I smelled cat poop wherever I went. About an hour later as I got ready to do some charting, I reached in my pocket for my pen and to my delight, wrapped my fingers around a squishy cat log instead :) The petrified kitty let loose in my pocket while I was putting him back in his crate apparently.

Wow! That is gross and hysterical.

I wish I had funny vet stories instead of horror stories. I like the poop in the pocket one.

## LoveMyMylie · 2008-10-21T11:28:39.000Z
Mylie's first visit at about 3 months old... While in the waiting room Mylie is being followed around and sniffed against her will by a giant 6 month old husky, she keeps hiding under my chair to get away from him! We get into the exam room, there's just a basic check up, shots, etc. Mylie does fine with the shots, doesn't seem to notice, but the moment a q-tip is gently touching her ears she flips out and yelps! She them turns on the vet and gently nips him. The vet is in shock and starts saying "Did she just bite me? I think she just bit me! Why does she bite?" My response is that she's scared & 3 MONTHS OLD... Puppies bite, stop freaking out!

You can tell this is going to be funny by the way it starts....this is a true story.

So a quadraplegic guy and his service monkey Minnie come into our clinic for a health certificate (being disabled is not funny, but on with the story.)

Minnie, a maned capuchin, has a visually displeasing habit of, um, "interfering" with herself all the time and needed to fly back East to be spayed. She required a health certificate and Rabies shot although her teeth were removed for safety reasons.

How, you ask, is a 12 lb "inquisitive" monkey supposed to be of assistance to a man in a scooter paralyzed from the neck down??? Well, she is trained to offer her person drink by straw and feed him. She also meticulously grooms him and washes his face with a washcloth. She replaces his arms if they have fallen off his scooter and will push the emergency button for help if he passes out or falls. She is litterbox trained. Being that she has no teeth and can't chew her food, she places tidbits in her persons mouth which he chews for her and she eats. Being a monkey, Minnie has of course discovered this to be to her advantage and exploits it.

Shortly before our appt, being a fractious creature by nature, Minnie had a little panic attack when a strange nurse came to visit her person and did what monkies do in those situations. There was no plexiglass barriers to protect anyone from the flying poos. Her person was understandably angry and told Minnie she was a smear on the good name of service monkies.

Minnie felt differently and much to her persons' great displeasure but to her delight, she began placing her feces and dead insects in his mouth, which he could do absolutely nothing about given his situation.

This, my friends, is why I just don't like monkeys. All of a sudden, BAM, you find one flinging crap in your face. No, I don't want to buy a sock monkey Mr.Letterman, ever.

A raging 12lb monkey. That sounds like more than a handful. That poor guy.

## Leonberger (admin) · 2008-10-22T11:00:36.000Z
That's a crappy story! (easy pun)

## KFontaine04 · 2008-10-22T11:42:15.000Z
LOL Leonberger!

## _dlroberts · 2008-10-22T12:34:52.000Z
That's fantastic! I bet its quite a site to see when Minnie is behaving. That actually sounds adorable. Except, ya know, for the whole poo in the mouth thing.

ROFL

Here's another winner:

A little old blue haired lady came to our clinic (which will probably be me someday with a gazillion animals that smell like tartar sauce), with her cute, but equally ancient daschund. She loudly told me that the little doxie was scooting his butt and me, being the whip that I am, murmered, "Oh, it's his anal sacs." The abuelita tilted her head at me, quivering, shouted, "He can't have anal sex, he's neutered!"

AHAHAHAHA. and gross.

## Leonberger (admin) · 2008-10-22T13:48:04.000Z
LOL!!! That has to go in the annals of funny vet stories (another easy one, what is with me and easy jokes?)

## kwyld · 2008-10-22T13:56:20.000Z
OH MY GOD Lindsay, those are two seriously funny stories!!!

## kwyld · 2008-10-22T14:00:21.000Z
I had a lady giving me a really hard time once at the check out desk about her bill and was being quite irate and rude. I was pleasantly surprised not too long after her little hissy, she looked down at "Pepper" her little schnauzer and screamed. Pepper had pooped right on her shoe!! Karma.... I'll have to hunt up and post some phone calls that people have made to us with questions, they are quite funny.

## lindsayt · 2008-10-22T14:11:53.000Z
Ha ha, Dog poop on shoe make many years bad fortune -_-

## Leonberger (admin) · 2008-10-22T14:13:40.000Z
Around here we say that stepping on it will bring money.

## sunyata · 2008-10-22T14:17:03.000Z
Oh wow. Lindsay, those are freaking hilarious! And Kelly, yes... Karma. :)

## kwyld · 2008-10-22T14:25:32.000Z
There was e-mail that was sent around work about all of the silly questions people had asked this one technician manning the phones over the weekend. I can’t find the e-mail but one of the questions was “I think my dog is having an allergic reaction and I need to know what to do. What do I do if I start having an allergic reaction too?” Hmmm….. I have a lot of people call and ask what they should do because their dog or cat just bit them and they’re bleeding. Hmmm… I really cannot top that monkey story though, that was great.!!
