# It Really Worked! After washing out my smoker yesterday I left the various pieces on the covered patio to dry out. The lid happened to be the closest thing to the door. The lid happened to be the closest thing to the door. For some reason Loki decided he was SO terrified of the lid that we wouldn't take one step outside. Remembering some of the suggestions about getting over fears I grabbed a handful of treats and started slowly luring him outside (but not in the direction of the lid. It kept working and working so I took a turn toward the lid. His focus was solely on me! I worked with him for no longer than 3 minutes, and in that amount of time I managed to get him from cowering toward the lid to taking treats right off of it :oD Needless to say every time he's passed the lid on his way in/out of the house he's stopped to check it for treats hehe. SO happy! In other weirdo pup news... Keiko has determined that it's her duty to help out any siren that happens to be passing us by howling at the top of her lungs to let everyone know to get out of the way! It's pretty much the MOST adorable thing ever, I'm trying to capture it on video. She literally stops walking, take a seat and howls until the vehicle has passed, then looks at me with a big goofy smile like "There, now I've done my part!" ## KFontaine04 · 2009-04-13T18:35:45.000Z Great work Evan and Loki! LOL Our neighbor doggie used to howl at the sirens. Funny thing... it went on for 2-3 years that way, then our dog, Joe (no longer with us) took up the howling too. It was amazing to hear the doggie chorus... very mournful, though, too! Hope you catch Keiko on video sometime... I'd love to hear it!
