Last night at a wonderful local pet supply store called Bad Dog Frida they had a treat tasting night for "VIP" (on their e-mail list) customers. They had treats for dogs and humans. I stopped by (without Nemo) and they packed up a big sample bag of all their possible new offerings. The favorites of the dogs, and best value rated by the customers, would decide which treats they are going to stock in the future. There were a lot of cute dogs there enjoying all the free snacks. http://baddogfrida.com I took the samples home to Nemo and fed him some, however he eats anything and everything, so it was hard to tell if he loved them. When I was there I picked up a bag of treats by the Northern Biscuit Bakery out of Canada. http://www.northernbiscuit.ca/ They offer a few different grain free treats, for those looking to avoid giving any grain to your dog. I purchased the Honey Glazed Duck with real Papaya for Nemo, and he seems to like them. They also have a Green Tripe treat! What a disgusting biscuit. :P Also picked up some Buddy Biscuits for Nemo. He has always liked their flavor and they are big enough that Nemo actually has to chew them. So they are great for his "bedtime" treat. Buddy Biscuits have grain but are free of corn, and a very reasonable price. ## KFontaine04 · 2009-03-10T11:07:22.000Z Miso and Sake LOVE Buddy Biscuts. And they LOVE them. They are dried crunchy organic sweet potatoes. Squeaks with delight everytime he gets one. Snooks seems to have some other nice products too. ## Calia · 2009-03-10T11:35:55.000Z Since there is not too many places that sell healthy treats, that I know of, around here we've been using high quality dog food as a treat. Ocean Core I can only get in a small bag, which can get quite pricey for regular feedings, but the dogs love it as a training treat. We've also given them baby carrots and small apple chunks. I will have to look into getting a dehydrator for myself to make some doggie treats. Snooks look good too. However, wellness core ocean has tomato pomace as an ingredient (http://ingredients101.com/tompom.htm) so I'm not sure of the difference beyond it being a dried out tomato. Every dog is different and responds differently, so maybe it wouldn't hurt? I don't have enough definitive info to give you, though. Sorry! Treats in our house are: Grizzly NuTreats Salmon Treats (for training), Wagger's champion chips (www.waggers.com), raspberries, blackberries, cheese curds, carrots, steamed sweet potato chunks and baked sweet potato slices. We have been filling the kong with cream cheese or cottage cheese mixed with peanut butter or squash or fishy fudge. In the summer we get fancy and make frozen yogurt/fruit/oat cubes and all that. ## KFontaine04 · 2009-03-10T17:04:34.000Z Beth, My Husky Sasha would eat small bits of tomato every once in a while with no adverse reactions. However, we never give her more than a couple of pieces at a time. She LOVES it. Our favorites are Wellness PURE, Zukes Mini Naturals, Fromm Cranberry Liver crunchy treats, and dehydrated sweet potatoes. We like the Old Mother Hubbard baked treats too. Also, we give string cheese as extra-good treats.
