# Breeder Meeting [edit: Akita]

Tomorrow me and John (fiance) are meeting one of the two breeders we're looking at, there wont be a litter for at least another month or two but we really want to make sure we find the right breeder/pup.

I was just wondering if anyone could give us any tips about what to look out for, we know this…

Tomorrow me and John (fiance) are meeting one of the two breeders we're looking at, there wont be a litter for at least another month or two but we really want to make sure we find the right breeder/pup.

I was just wondering if anyone could give us any tips about what to look out for, we know this is a reputable breeder based on research but this is the first time we'll have ever been to a breeder and aren't entirely sure on what to look for.

We'd eventually like to introduce a rescue or two to our home, in time, and so the temperament of our first dog will be very important.

Also if anyone has any advice for actually choosing the pup, as at the moment we'll have first pick, I've read one thread on here about it and I've been researching but there's very little out there and I know our breeder will help us but I can't help but feel like they'll be a little biased.

I feel like a first time mom!

What type of dog are you getting? I'm assuming a Shiba?

no, sorry, I completely forgot to mention that. We're looking at Akitas, I believe (though don't necessarily understand totally) that we're looking at both American akitas and the original Japanese Inus in an attempt to decide which is the one for us.
