Hanzo was aptly named, he could be a character on Tekken! He is always asking for a fight with other dogs (at least, that is how I understand it)! I thought most dogs will do whatever they could to avoid such a thing? His habitual fight dance: Most mornings we take a route where we pass two large dogs in a fenced in yard who bark at him. He'll instantly start pulling on his leash and find something - anything - to pee on then kicks like a bull pretty forcefully while never taking his eyes off the two dogs. Then on the next block, there is a dog on an upstairs terrace who barks down at him, and same routine, lock eyes, pee, then bull kick. He never barks back or growls or anything he just gets really riled up and lets it out in his kicking. We have to back away or we'd get pelted in the face by dirt and leaves!! In fact, one morning a girl walking to school got hit in the back of the head and she turns around to the old 3 legged dog and says "did HE do that??!", I burst out laughing - it was hilarious! Why is he doing that? Is he like egging the other dogs on? How can we curb it? Does this make him - ugh - "dog aggressive"? He is great on the leash otherwise, in fact I have a regular (gasp!) collar on him because he never tried to back out of a collar and doesn't have much force and zero prey drive. Thanks! Maybe I'll get it on video, I think its a riot.

Whizzer does this too, but it's proceeded by ferocious terrier barking. I think he does it to try and claim his territory and to make a show so the other dogs know what's up. That is just my guess though. The funny thing is that Whizzer is not at all dominant or alpha when inside of a building. He just goes all crazy outside. Sometimes lawnmowers and leaf blowers get this same treatment. Sometimes I think Whizzer might be "special", like Maui.

I think so. Dogs kicking shit around with their paws is a way of marking.
