I've mentioned about Jazz not always being engaged into playing...well, she just imitated something she saw at Rachael's last time we were there. She did a shiba 500 and ran under the bed for a lap and then began zooming around & under the bed. Niko did this while we were at Rach's and Jazz was curious, but didn't involve herself. Maybe next time, Jazz will play with Niko...now that she understands the game. I'm very happy!

YAY! I can just see it now! That is Niko's favorite nightly ritual and her introduction of other dogs to her den. She does this with Sasha but Sasha cant chase her under it so when other dogs fit down there she cant contain herself. She would LOVE for Jazz to play with her in her den! When are you coming over?? How many times did she do it/or how long?

How's next Wednesday (Day)? She did it 6 or 7 times in a row! I was too scared she'd stop if I sent one of the kids for the camera.

Go Jazz!

Yay!!! :D GO JAZZ! :) ~

## sujewel · 2008-11-02T09:55:11.000Z
What great news! Sounds like Jazz had a blast being and feeling like a dog. Very cool.

Wednesday works for me! (you know where I will be!)

## tsukitsune (moderator) · 2008-11-02T15:33:38.000Z
That is awesome, LJ! I bet she had a blast just being a dog!!!

I think so. The kids and I went and "played" tennis today (it involves me working with them on volleying and me lamenting on how bad I serve now compared to when I was in college) and took her with us. She does so well with being on the court. Explain to me why her us pound the ball like crazy doesn't make her flinch, but the sound of a distant gunshot makes her quiver?

Go Jazz!!

## sunyata · 2008-11-02T22:27:26.000Z
Yay for Jazz and the Shiba 500! But to answer your question (well, to speculate the answer is more like it!), Jazz is probably okay with the pounding of the tennis ball because she can see where the noise is coming from and what is making it. With the distant gunshot (or other un-identifiable to her) noise, she is not aware of where the sound is coming from or what is making it, sending shivers down her little Shiba spine. Either way, I am super proud of Jazz for running around and under and over the bed like the Shiba we all know she is! :-D

Every night when I come home I get a 500, but to have her add in an extra step (that she learned from Niko) was just too cool. Your explanation is a good one and seems quite reasonable. In other news, I changed my bedroom around today - moved the bed 90 degrees, shifted my hope chest and desk - Jazz is very perturbed by the change. She keeps walking around trying to figure out where everything is. I don't change things up very much, but I think I like the layout of the room.

I move my bedroom around a lot and Miso always thinks its a new room! It takes him a few days to figure it out, but as long as he can still hop on the bed for sleep time he is okay.

I haven't changed the layout of the room since I had the house built in 2004. I just gave my nephews the rolltop desk that I had and have switched to a more modern desk (the base is a metal fram that my dad made - he was a welder, and the top is a piece of a countertop that I had custom-sized). I moved the hope chest (it was my mother's, grandmother's, and great-grandmother's) by the window and have placed a quilt over it - Jazz has enjoyed sitting there looking out the window at the birds. She keeps doing these little small woofs that are very cute.

Ah, the mini woof of the shiba...Miso does that out our window too. I have a chair in front of the window with a pillow behind it just for him (well and now Sake), and they love it.

I miss shiba 500. Tojo never does it anymore. He's too mellow and he's only 3 years old!

## ljowen123 (moderator) · 2008-11-05T08:57:07.000Z
Really? Jazz is five and does them - she doesn't do them for very long or more than once a day (usually when I come home), but I get a kick out of when she does do them.

## tsukitsune (moderator) · 2008-11-05T11:09:12.000Z
Hanzo is 7-9 and he does a very brief one, chases his tail and retrieves a tennis ball maybe 4-5 times when I first come home! I keep meaning to get a video of it but I use my hands to throw the ball and love on him instead :) I hope my shibas never stop the 500's!!

I'm late to this one too... Good girl Jazz!!!! ----

## ljowen123 (moderator) · 2008-11-05T19:11:37.000Z
Yeah...and then we went to Rach's today. We took Sally the pug and it was kind of interesting. I've got video that I'll upload in a while. Jazz wanted to play but was very unsure about it - she also wanted to protect Sally from psycho Niko and as usual, went a little too protective.

## MommyofNiko · 2008-11-05T19:31:47.000Z
Niko...PSYCHO????

## ljowen123 (moderator) · 2008-11-05T23:25:12.000Z
I'm sorry...I forgot to mention that I also consider Jazz to be psycho. Just the complete opposite type of psycho from Niko.

## hondru (moderator) · 2008-11-06T14:08:17.000Z
Tojo does it if I keep him inside a lot, or when I'm visiting somewhere other than home and he doesn't get much off-leash time. Otherwise, I think he gets everything out of his system in his morning outdoor romp. When he was younger, he did several shiba 500's regardless of how much exercise he'd gotten!

## KFontaine04 · 2008-11-06T15:40:32.000Z
Sake pulled her first Solo Shiba 500 this morning. I was mad the camera wasn't close. She has done a few with Miso but this was on her own. It was ADORABLE, especially since she yips and barks and squeeks the whole time!
