I actually don't know the title. It's an out of print picture book from 1998. I bought it off ebay, the guy was only selling one copy. :0 The whole book is in japanese. n___n; Which I cannot read. This is the cover:

Those are great! No Shikoku tho? ----

## tobyshiba · 2008-08-15T22:48:44.000Z
Can't see the Shikoku? Pretty sure its a Shikoku in the 3rd + last photo. ;) They don't give the names with the photos. D: Its all in Kanji. ;;

Isn't the 2nd one of a Shikoku? Awesome! Thanks for the spam :D~

## tobyshiba · 2008-08-15T23:08:08.000Z
At least the names are not in the book. Its kinda ... helping me figure it out on my own. :3 I'm kinda guessing on some of them, but the majority of the breed photos are bunched together w/ one another ( the Shibas are first in the book :D ). I'm gonna scan a few more in soon. x3

... these are my guesses from the book. xD Sorry if I am wrong. I think the only two i'm confused with is the Hokkaido and the Kishu. Shiba Inu ( pretty obvious ): Shikoku Ken : Akita Inu : Kai Ken : Kishu Ken? ( I think. xD ) : Hokkaido Inu? ( an also, I think xD ):

## tsukitsune (moderator) · 2008-08-16T00:00:53.000Z
that akita is ADORABLE!!! I agree with your guesses, btw!

## Sangmort (moderator) · 2008-08-16T00:10:41.000Z
The first picture of the Shiba & the pics of the Kai & Shikoku are my favorite! :D [ also the one of the akita puppy! Too cute! ]~

I am pretty sure that you 2nd shiba picture in the most recent groupings is actually a hokkaido (look for the urajiro) also the head is a little more block and a little less wedge. The white one is almost definitely a kishu. Really cool pictures.

To those who are interested, looks like the seller put up another on ebay. :) He might have a few? http://cgi.ebay.com/Japanese-Dogs-PhotoBook-Akita-Shiba-Kishu-Kai-Other-Inu\_W0QQitemZ360079094181QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360079094181&\_trkparms=72%3A1075|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&\_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&timeout=1218853841721 He's very nice, and very quick. He shipped the book a day before my paypal payment went through. n___n;

I have this book. The second picture is 2 Shiba, not Hokkaido. Toyshiba, you were rignt ! Difference between Shiba and Hokkaido is not only urajiro... There are type differences too... and somtime, Shiba has not a very white Urajiro... (here I think its the light of the picture)

## tobyshiba · 2008-08-16T13:44:03.000Z
Not only that, but theres other ways to tell besides just the colours of the Urajiro. The Hokkaido ( to me ) looked a little chunkier than a Shiba. Generally Shibas seem to have a huge fuzzy ass, a smaller tail and a leaner body. Hokkaido ( from photos ) do look like a larger Shiba, but a little more thicker and seem to have a much larger tail.

If you look at KTrebors Hokkaido they are not that much bigger than shibas. That is one of the most startling things about them, is the fact that these wee dogs are so bloody tough. I will concede at second glance that those are shibas. Hokkaido ears seem to generally be further apart and the urajiro (or absence thereof) does appear to be lighting in the picture. However the urajiro is a breed standard. absence of it is considered a major fault.

Yea, I agree, in the very first group the second pic is a Shikoku... the second I'm not sure about. Maybe its a Shikoku... its kinds funny looking due to the camera angel or something. The Kai-Ken in the recent group looks so much more fuzzy than Kona, I wonder if his coat will change for this winter??? Great pics! ----
