This pups reminds me of this thread...Supposed Shiba/husky with blue eyes. The face pattern almost reminds me of a red akita inu http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=13108377

I can't stop staring at their eyes. they're so pretty! That Shiba looks adorable although, like you stated, it looks pretty akitaish. I wonder the Akita/Husky owner managed to get one... I've seen some American Akita/Husky mixes but never with a silver brindle. Correct me if I'm wrong but the silver brindle is a recessive trait... and the blue eyes on a husky is recessive too... So rare!

I love blue-eyed dogs. Particularly on Black huskies... This guy is just absolutely stunning! What a penetrating gaze :) ~

I heard from a guy claiming to once be a husky breeder, that the eye colors in huskies don't have recessive traits. That the blue is just as strong as the brown and the amber, and that is how you can sometimes get parti-color eyes(two colors in one eye) or different colored eyes. Personally, I like the parti-color eyes, something about the blue bleeding into the brown really amazes me. Here are some examples:

Interesting fact: Huskies can have two blue eyes, two brown eyes, one blue and one brown (bi-eyed), or the blue brown combo (parti-eyed) but Malimutes will ALWAYS have brown eyes, never anything else.

Thanks for clearing that up Calia. I went to the shelter before I got Sasuke and they had what looked like a toy Australian Shepard that had gemoetric split-blue eyes. I kept staring into them over and over again... walk away, then come back. It was so cool looking. Here is what I was looking at: There is a lot of pictures of Aussies with the different colored at this site. The blue did not bleed into the brown.. just make a nice crisp division. Kristin, that's an interesting fact that I never knew. How about Alaskan Huskies?

I don't know about Alaskan Huskies Joe. I owned two blue eyed siberian huskies and a Malimute owner told me that fact a while ago. I just thought it was interesting.

I had Siberian Huskies for 20+ years before I had a Shikoku. I love their blue eyes. In regards to Alaskan Huskies, since they are not a breed per se, but rather a type, some would have blue eyes and some might not. There is no breed standard - they are bred to run and have tremendous endurance. That is the ONLY goal of Alaskan breeders is to produce FAST dogs with tremendous endurance. The Alaskans were first developed by crossing Siberians with various types of hounds (foxhounds, coon hounds,) and hunting dogs to gain longer legs and speed. Some Alaskans really look like hounds and others look more like Siberians. So you will see some with blue eyes.

Lol it's kinda sad, everyone is talking about huskies and I think of Micah :P His eyes were parti-eyed up until a couple days ago. Now they're solid brown.

Lol, Rina. I had grey/blue eyes when I was born, sort of an amber brown now :P
