# Best pet odour eliminator?

So when we first moved here one of the rooms smelled like cat pee.  I have cleaned the carpet, but a slight smell still lingers.  I'm thinking I'll try one of those pet odour eliminators specifically designed for pet urine.  Any suggestions or recommendations?

If it wasn't kept clean by the previous residents as it happened, it could have gotten into the carpet pad (if it has one), if that is the case, I think the only thing you can do is replace it...if there's no pad, I dunno...

I use Glade Carpet & Room Deodorizer (Fresh Linen Scent).  You just evenly sprinkle it over the carpet and leave it there for a few minutes and vacuum it up.  It works pretty well.  The longer you let it sit, the more it smells like the scent you get.  I usually leave it for 30 minutes.  I have friends who left it overnight!  Its worth a try, good luck!

When Ryu was learning housebreaking rules, we used gallon after gallon of Nature's Miracle. But since you have to completely saturate the soiled part, I'm not sure it would you any good (since you don't know exactly where the odor is coming from....) It's pretty good stuff - he has never soiled the same spot since we started using it. Again, not sure if its something you can use but something to look into!

I have read that black lights will show where cat urine is... maybe I could get one of those and pinpoint the spot(s).

Heidi, black lights do work to find urine stains. We're not fond of Nature's Miracle. It doesn't work that well for us. We like Simple Solution® Oxy Solution® Pet Stain & Odor Destroyer

Simple Solution makes great products and yes you can use a black light to find the spots.  Products like Simple Solution and Nature's Miracle contain enzymes that break down the cat urine so the scent comes out.

I have had great luck with Natures Miracle and my four cats. We buy it in the gallon jugs now. To be gross for a second it got all the blood out when Piggy was in heat and remember she had a number of hemmoragic cysts.

Hope you get the stink out.
