# Good Steam carpet cleaner?

Could someone recommend me a good steam carpet cleaner? What options  and features should I be looking for? Still not sure if I'll be investing in one. But having one around would come in handy (especially with the rabbits) In the long run, it would be a better investment than renting one everytime…

I would prefer one that heated the water instead of using the hot water I put in it. Besides that I have no clue what to look for.

BISSELL SPOT BOT PET!!! works wonders I tell ya~! with our POS carpet and the dogs being in and out of the house all the time.  I can't thank this vaccuum enough!  Its not steam, but its a carpet spot cleaner.  A couple days ago the dogs were digging in the yard and walked up the stairs and all around the living room and whooo, it was a breeze to clean, no stains!

Here's some more information on it:

http://www.bissell.com/Products/c/PortableDeepCleaner/p/SpotBot_Pet/product.aspx

It comes with their own carpet cleaning detergent and it works pretty good.  Its also automated, so you just put it on the spot, push start and it does cleans the spot itself!  And when its done, it beeps consistantly so you don't forget about it.  There is also a manual use function, which you use with the hose...it has a spray function on the hose so you can spray the spot and then vaccuum it yourself.  I usually use the spot bot pet and then go over it with my dyson.  But i highly recommend this product.  Its not too expensive either, I definately think its worth it!

We have a bissell and it is pretty good.  We stole it from the in-laws so I dont know much about it or about others but we like it and it heats the water.  It is one of the big ones.

I'm getting a lot of recommendations for the Hoover SteamVac. Has anyone tried those?

We went to Costco today and saw this :

It's $199 in store. We're probably gonna try it out once we get out tax return (which we're mailing in tomorrow)

Just heard from my accountant. I knew I wasn't getting a big refund. But apparently I OWE

## okiron · 2008-02-12T10:49:45.000Z
Aww I'm sorry Jessica. I made $11k more in 2007 than 2006 and my return is $300 less. I made $4k less in California than Errik and am getting a bigger return. I don't get taxes at ALL.

I owe every year. I hate taxes.

Tomorrow we will here about the rebate stimulus package. I don't think it will help the economy but it will help my purse strings.

Last year I owed, because my company wasn't taking ANY taxes out!!!  But this year I got some back.  John owes a lot this year...for some reason his company has him at 2 instead of 0.  So he owed a lot last year and since he made more this year and they changed his salary to 0 but didn't change his commission, so he owes a lot this year too.   Gosh, I miss the days when we would get thousands back...now we always OWE! So basically what I get back, is going straight back to pay for John lol.

edit: For all you homeowners out there, don't you get a pretty big refund for your homes?

So far the government has been very conservative in what they withhold throughout the year, so I've been lucky so far. I don't know how many of you have heard of the economic stimulus package - where ever taxpayer gets a "free" $600 this year (1200 for a couple)...but it's not free. The 600 is an advance on next year's tax refund. So, if you are supposed to get 700 back from the gov't for 2008, you will only get 100. If you are supposed to get 400 back, you will owe 200. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that is the expectation for this money. We plan on hiding it from ourselves until next year, just so we don't accidentally spend it, with house renovation/moving/wedding costs. It's amazing how they add up.

Also, we use the Bissell proheat 2x and it is AWESOME!!! We've only had it 9 months tho, but it has changed our lives. It's crazy how much it helps with cleaning the carpet - and getting dog hair out! We can vacuum the carpet, brush it, pull out all the hair (we think) and still have the steam cleaner get more out. Love it tons.

You better be wrong....I will be PISSED!!!!!!!!  We were gonna save it for the puppy but we will have to save it to pay it!

## okiron · 2008-02-13T01:22:26.000Z
Are you serious??? I was planning on splurging on the animals with the extra money *pouts*

Glad you like the Bissell, makes me even more confident to try it out :)

## brandon_w (admin) · 2008-02-13T10:04:36.000Z
This "stimulus" package is not an advance on next years tax return.  The last one was, this is not.  Instead the government is borrowing more money from China and giving us that, so we can all go out and buy shit that is made in China.  Whose economy is getting stimulated?

Should we make a no politics rule on here?  Well, we could talk dog laws of course, but leave the rest out?  Just a thought.

## JessicaRabbit (admin) · 2008-02-13T10:59:07.000Z
I get less fired up about these politics because I already know I don't like or trust most government. Dog laws (as we may have noticed in past threads make me really feisty and passionate)

## brada1878 (admin) · 2008-02-13T14:12:35.000Z
I think a no politics rule is a good idea on the forum...

Having said that, I am with Jessica, I don't trust government. Generally I lean towards the libertarian side of things.

Free money is excellent! If you're right, I'm ecstatic!

## MommyofNiko · 2008-02-13T23:58:03.000Z
Ditto on that Brandon, Jess and Brad!
