Was she a lot darker as a pup? The first picture she looks really dark, but in the ones where she's a little older she's gotten lighter, & in recent pictures she looks darker again *confused* :p ~ ## brada1878 (admin) · 2008-08-22T03:03:41.000Z She was super dark up to about 8 weeks then turned more red. After she lost her puppy coat she got darker and greyer and the white on her chest reduced. Now she is a fairly dark red sesame. It was not till about 8 months that she really started to develop her mask and "widow's peak". Awww~! Ahi puppy <3 Just...so...cute! I have a really hard time picking favorite colours for all the Nihon Ken, I just love them all D:! He was a lighter red sesame as a puppy, but started to get a lot more black hairs in his mask and neck area at about 8 months. Now just shy of a year, he also has some black in his coat on his ribcage. By 4 months old, she was completely brindle. My dad was all 'what the heck are you doing to that dog? Pouring bleach on her??' LOL. People are the same way.
