Also, Jazz got her nails ground again today - no screaming, shrieking or sounds of discomfort at all.  She's quite the trooper on this.  The vet is pleased with the re-growth of fur on her front paws and believes the shortening of her nails with the addition of the fish oil is helping with the fur re-growth.  Any ideas to help this faster? The vet commented on Jazz's calm nature and was surprised that she was not freaked out, even though they had some crazy sounds going.  A basset hound was brought in that was baying to beat the band, which apparently set the vet's cat to meow-howling - throughout it all, Jazz had this contemptous look of, "Don't you know how to behave on trips?  If you were mine, I'd take you nowhere!" It was a good vet trip. ## brandon_w (admin) · 2008-04-24T12:34:16.000Z Good vet trips deserve a steak or some pork tenderloin or a giant piece of smoked cow bone or something.  I don't know how to make hair grow faster, but fish oil will help it fell smooth and full, and keep the skin nice underneath it too. I think Jazz could teach them - if I could get her to like other dogs. .  Actually, she's gotten better - I shouldn't harp on that. ## Leonberger (admin) · 2008-04-24T12:40:53.000Z Any muscle is denser than fat, so for the same weight a more muscular animal will have less volume, making it thiner. Hwy 138 and Hwy 81 No prob on the call back, its nice having unlimited minutes. I just thought hubby would be happier not being trapped. ## Romi (admin) · 2008-04-24T21:44:44.000Z Awesome news LJ!  What a good little Jazz!  Ninja isn't so fond of the vet, let alone strange people.  I think the only time strange people actually have the chance to touch him is at the vet or groomers.  Glad to hear that everything went well! ## ljowen123 (moderator) · 2008-04-24T21:52:05.000Z Do you ever take ninja to the vet just to give him a treat, or to meet other people? ## Romi (admin) · 2008-04-24T22:15:04.000Z Yeah, I think socialized him a lot, when I first got on the forum thats what everyone told me to do, socialize, socialize, socialize.  He started nipping at other dogs and people when they got too close to him, thats when I figured I had a problem that needed professional help.  He's just really fearful of strangers and other dogs.  Im in the process of hopefully changing that, but we'll see..I don't want to push him too much too fast.  Just taking baby steps.  But so far he has improved quite a bit from the beginning I think.  He will take treats from strangers hands and he won't try to run upstairs and hide when there are strangers in the house, he'll just lay down at the other side of the room, but still be in the same room.  I was really shocked when my behaviorist came by and did training with him, he was able to pet ninja on his head no problem.  It really made me confident and hopeful to see that happen. ## ljowen123 (moderator) · 2008-04-24T22:23:20.000Z I'm glad that you see improvement with Ninja - Jazz is still a little snarky with other dogs, but she's really good with humans (of course, she thinks she is one, so that makes sense).  How often is Ninja seeing the behaviorist? ## _dlroberts · 2008-04-24T22:32:49.000Z Ninja's second visit is on Saturday right? I'm anxiously awaiting the outcome. :-D ## Romi (admin) · 2008-04-24T22:37:12.000Z Actually its next saturday, we had to re-schedule.  John's friend from Vegas is coming down tomorrow and staying with us for the weekend and its also John's little cousin's birthday on Saturday at noon, we forgot about it, so yeah.  Its a kind of busy weekend for us.
