My Japanese friend came to visit today and he was playing with Kelly. But as usual, kelly doesnt respond to his commands and appears to be ignoring him. So I go over to play with them and I gave her the sit command. she then walks to my side and sits so that we are both facing the same direction. most of her body is behind me. after this happened. my Japanese friend told me that this is a great sign of established leadership in Japanese dogs. After this, i asked to laydown and she does, but turns on her back so that her belly is showing. He also said that this was a gesture that signified loyalty. I never knew about this so I thought it was very interesting especially coming someone with a Japanese culture.

That is very interesting. The demonstrations of leadership and loyalty bring the idea of respect to my mind. It seems to me that respect is essential to creatures displaying these messages, and also signal to me that you are a good dog owner, thereby earning the respect and loyalty of Kelly.
