I came home from walking my friends dogs and Moto had climbed up on top of a table and took down a tupperware container of chocolate chip cookies. He and Piglet ate the entire contents. Approximately 18 cookies.

I called animal poison control. They had me administer hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. They wouldn't vomit. They had me give them a second dose. Nothing. An hour passes. And while they appear to be acting fine they suggest I bring them to the vet.

It is now 10:40 we get to the vet. They are very nice. They give them some medicine through their eyes to induce vomiting. Still nothing.

They are keeping both of them over night for observation. The vet says she thinks they will be fine but wants to flush both their systems with fluids to insure that they will not have any long term effects from the chocolate.

I don't know how I am supposed to sleep tonight without my babies here. I am completely losing it.

Closed on my house today. And I could completely care less. I just want my dogs.

Awww, Jess. What an emotional roller coaster. They're in good hands now. You hopefully can sleep knowing that. I would be more comfortable knowing that they were being taken care of then if they were home with me and I felt like I had to keep an eye on them.

My thoughts are with you, Jason, Moto, and Piglet. Keep us updated.

Sorry to hear about your dog emergency. I know you can't help worrying. They are at the best place possible in this situation. We'll keep you in our thoughts.

Yikes!  That would be so rough!  Thankfully, they are in good hands and it sounds like they'll be fine.  Tell us how it goes.  My thoughts are with you.

I hope that Moto and Piglet are doing well this morning.  I also hope that you and Jason are doing well, last night had to be incredibly tough.  We are sending our best wishes your way.

wrong thread.  sorry.

## Leonberger (admin) · 2008-02-23T10:01:59.000Z
Sorry to hear that!!

Wishing quick recovery for both of them.

I'm sure they're in good hands, and 18 cookies shouldn't contain enough chocolate to be something serious, but of course we always worry.

Let us know how it goes.

So sorry to hear that! I hope that the chocolate causes no ill effects.

Just got off the phone with the vet.

Piglet chewed off her catheter. Other than that she seems okay. She says her heart rate appears moderately elevated but she apparently gets so excited every time someone comes to see her they think it might just be her enthusiasm.

Moto is fine. He gets really pissed when someone is paying attention to anyone but him and SCREAMS.

I could hear him over the phone. I felt such sympathy for the staff there.

The vet asked what I would be feeding them as their bland diet. I informed her that I would do boiled chicken, pumpkin and kale. She said she couldn't top that so I could come get them at noon.

I slept like hell last night as you can imagine.

My cats however were PSYCHED. I woke up covered in cats.

Glad to hear that they are doing ok.  A tummy ache is no match against a Shibas need for attention.  I'm sure Piglets heart rate only matches the speed her tail is swinging at when people come in the room.

I can imagine the cats were pretty pumped, mine start to play like crazy every night when Nemo is put away, it's pretty funny.

wow - what a rough night! I'm glad everyone is ok!

Now that we know they are ok - Congrats on the closing! :c)

Thank you.

By the way, the new house already has child locks on all the cabinets

Im so late but my heart dropped when I saw the thread.  That is so scary.  They were both thinking that they finally got some nummy chocolate and now you are trying to make them give it up.  They went on strike to vomiting.  Im so glad they are ok.  Kitty is crazy when the dogs are away!

## Romi (admin) · 2008-02-23T15:51:39.000Z
Ugh, jessica, Im glad to hear Moto and Piglet are ok.  That must have been so scary for you guys.  But Moto and Piglet are champs and overcame it.  Im so happy that they are fine.  And Congrats on closing your new home!

OMG. What a night you must've had. It's a relief to know you babies are well.

## Leonberger (admin) · 2008-02-23T19:43:29.000Z
It's good to know everything is ok now, and the scare is over.

## _dlroberts · 2008-02-24T06:10:34.000Z
Great news on both fronts--your babies doing well and on the house!

I swear I will be completely gray by the end of this year.
