# Shiba Dental Issue Tsuki's adult teeth are just about in and done.. but we noticed that a tooth (incisor) in the front top right is being pushed up, out of alignment by the canine fang on the bottom of the same side.. I don't think I've ever heard of doggy braces?? Perhaps they could file the tooth down. ## tsukitsune (moderator) · 2008-06-09T23:32:12.000Z well her tooth has been bleeding and getting pushed and pushed and on Thursday we're driving Tsuki to a canine oral surgeon to remove the tooth because she is beginning to react to normal eating. They have to put her fully under to do it - my poor Tsuki... She didn't have any reactions to anesthesia when she was spayed, and it was an extended procedure for a hernia she was born with, but i'm still nervous!! ## brada1878 (admin) · 2008-06-10T01:20:00.000Z wow... that's crazy, good call taking her to see a vet. I missed this thread, but I just wanted to say I know what you mean about being nervous about the anesthesia. Last year when Nemo needed some dental work done, I was a bit of a mess, my baby was going under! Just think about it though, how would it be possible to do dental work on a dog without anesthesia? ## tsukitsune (moderator) · 2008-06-10T10:59:49.000Z Thats very true - she wouldn't really even let us investigate it when we were at the oral surgeon's office.. silly Tsuki, after driving 1.5 hours, across state lines, to get there and she was giving him such hell, wiggling, screaming, restrained and everything. When I voiced my concern about the anesthesia, he pointed at her and said 'thats why'. I'll be a wreck worrying about it, but Thursday afternoon when she's home I'll be OK... this is my baby! my first shiba baby! but we gotta do it. And he is an excellent oral surgeon, we traveled to him specifically because of amazing referrals and credentials. ## tsukitsune (moderator) · 2008-06-12T14:14:17.000Z well we are waiting for the final check so we can head home -- my pda has a somewhat connection so sorry if this doesnt work all the way -- tsuki is awake and and whimpering a bit I dont blame her - she has desolvable stitches in her mouth and an e-collar on her neck -- poor thing -- but the procedure went well -- only 2 stitches were needed and the tooth wasnt as well rooted as it could have been so it wasnt that bad -- we hope to be heading home within the hour -- an hour drive wont be so bad if she sleeps -- enjoy the day ## _dlroberts · 2008-06-12T14:26:58.000Z Good news!
