Has anyone heard of TTouch methods for helping an anxious and/or fearful dog? It is not a training method so much as a way to connect and relax your dog to prepare it for obedience or leash training. It is supposed to be an exceptional method for helping dogs that are anxious in a controlled environment get more accustomed to the human presence. From the website: "Using a combination of specific touches, lifts, and movement exercises, TTouch helps to release tension and increase body awareness. This allows the animal to be handled without provoking typical fear responses. The animal can then more easily learn new and more appropriate behaviors. By using the TTouch and a variety of other tools, like the Confidence Course, you can assist the animal in experiencing self-confidence in previously frightening situations. Even the most difficult problems are often eliminated." The Tellington TTouch can help in cases of: * Excessive Barking and Chewing * Leash Pulling * Jumping Up * Aggressive Behavior * Extreme Fear and Shyness * Resistance to Grooming * Excitability and Nervousness * Car Sickness * Problems Associated With Aging I have signed up for a training course for companion animals in October. Yes, I've read about them in books about horses. I'm not sure if I've been doing it correctly, however, I've tried to apply the same method to my cats and dogs. It's been very relaxing on them, Lynx especially enjoys it. I have yet to try it on Kei-kun. I haven't been doing it very consistently though, just very randomly. So, for me, it has only helped to relax the animal for a moment. After I'm done, they are back to whatever it is that they do, lol.
