She made a wonderful nihon ken ambassador and was on her best behavior. In other news, Tosca has decided that jazz is not that bad after all. She wandered into the living room Sunday during my jazz fix and flopped down on the sofa. She now seems ok with it. 20th/21st century classical compositions are next... I hope. Life with my Tosca wouldn't be complete without her doing something that makes me laugh very hard. Recently, my focus has been on weight loss and to that end I have been exercising a lot. A few weeks ago there was a post on Yoga with your dog. I looked online and found a video showing how to get your dog into the "downward-facing dog" pose thinking, "Dude, it's a play bow. How hard can it possibly be?" I should know by now that when I think or say "how hard can it be" the forces of the universe join together to show me. What a disaster! First, you're supposed to get the dog into a down-stay and the, while applying "gentle pressure" to the shoulders to keep the front end down, raise the back half, giving a massage to the back. We made it to down. I swear that dog forgot that she could raise each half of her body somewhat independently of each other. The more she struggled, the farther away from her shoulders my hand went. I ended up with my hand on her head pinning her down and desparately trying to lift her back end which she had rooted to the ground while enduring the "Shiba Stare of Doom". It was not as relaxing as the woman in the video made it look. We've not attempted it since. I have also purchased an exercise ball. It's a lot of fun and a great workout. I love my exercise ball. Tosca does not love my exercise ball. She hates my exercise ball. She hates it so much that she decided that it must die. She waited until I was far enough away that I couldn't stop her and then she charged off her sofa and kicked and snapped at the ball and knocked it into a chair. Appearantly, she didn't expect a fight but fight back it did. It bounced off the chair and back into her with enough force to knock her over. (I think she was off balance.) It added insult to injury by then running over her. Think Wile E. Coyote. She will now not stay in the same room with the ball. Although Bella is becoming more and more comfortable with it as I work with her. Nancy, I really think you should write a book of Tosca antics.
