Bump on Keiras neck
So I woke up this morning and was masaging Keiras neck and I noticed she had a huge golf ball size bump on her neck. I started freaking out because it was not there yesterday. I was sure it was something that needed to seek the vet asap so I had my husband take her in since I had to work. He called me and said it ended up being a bruse from Kenji. Sometimes they tend to fight over a chew or a toy and they attack each other and it can get pretty nasty, and weve even tried to jump in but I have now 2 bruses to account for me trying to break it up so I know I will not do that again and we plan on taking them both to Intermediate class to correct that.
So they ended up sending my husband and keira home with medicine to take once a day for 3 weeks. So I am sooo releaved to hear it wasnt something more serious such as cancer. Has anyone else ever had this happen to your dog?
BUT......when they were there they took x-rays and did some tests on her and noticed she has a heart mermur. Do any of your dogs have one and is it anything serious? The vet told my husband its nothing serious now, but they will check on it whenever she goes in for her shots. I feel bad because she is only 10 months and I dont know anything about heart mermurs so I dont know if thats bad to have a pup have one? Is it anything I should be concerned about?

I'm glad the bump is nothing serious. Tojo and Rakka sometimes fight over bones and such and I usually spray them with water... or let them sort it out. They usually just bark at each other. They've never actually hurt each other, but then again, I want to keep it that way!
Sorry to hear about the heart murmur. I don't know what to tell you there, I've never had a dog with a heart murmur. Hopefully it's not a big deal.
Nemo has seen 6 different Vets (some different Vets at the same office) in the three years that I have owned him. Two of them said he had a grade two heart murmur. When he was put under for his teeth cleaning, I paid to have him hooked up to a heart monitor and she listened herself, she did not pick up on any murmur. If Keira gets worked up at the vet, it is possible that the vet thinks they could hear something when it isn't there, due to heavy breathing, moving around, etc.
However if she is calm at the vet, a grade 1 or 2 murmur is no big deal. Grade 3 or 4 is where you start to run into more problems, such as fainting from being over excited/worked etc.
The poodle my family had when I was growing up lived a VERY long life w/ a grade 2 heart murmur - I wouldn't worry about it to much (there isn't anything you can do anyway - is there?)
As for bumps - Ahi and Maui have given each other many many bruises - Also Ahi and Loa, they play so hard all the time. I'm sure Kona will have his share too. They have never had one the size of a golf ball tho - that would freak me out too!
I'm glad Keira is ok!
Heart murmurs can be a big deal sometimes because other things can be associated with them like mitral valve dysplasia or reguritation, sub-aortic stenosis, electrical issues with the heart and so on. If it were MY dog, I would take her to a board certified cardiologist for a second opinion and to get an echocardiogram to be sure nothing else is going on. If you decided to go that route I can give you some names and numbers because you live in Michigan and so do I. I wouldn't blow off any heart problem with my pet no matter how small.
Pets that have some of the above named associated issues with a murmur are sometimes put on medications to decrease fluid load on the heart, improve heart function, block specific hormones that effect the heart and so on.
