Questions for you...

edited May 2008 in General
First off I hope this is in the right section, if not I apologies. So I have a couple questions for you lovely people. My first one is, how exactly do you get an icon by your screen name. I've tired and tired but it keeps coming out as a white space...blast the world! LoL

And my second question is how do you post pictures up without a creating a link for it. I know each website does it differently, so I'm not sure how it's done on here. Is it the img= code??

Sorry if any of these questions have already been asked a thousand times.

The icon image is cropped to 32x32 - I resized mine to those specific pixels and that worked - just need to have a url for that.

To post the images it is the image code.

Just to clarify what LJ and Jen said...

To have an icon, you have to first take an image and shrink it down to 32x32 pixels. You can do that using photoshop or some other image editing software. I suggest using a combination of cropping and scaling to get that accomplished. After you've done that, you need to put that image somewhere on the internet. If you have a website, you can do that, otherwise I would use some photo sharing site like Picasa Web Albums, Flickr, or Photobucket. Once you've uploaded the photo, navigate to it with your web browser. If you're using a photo sharing site there should be an option to get the url for the photo, you need to copy that and put it in your profile. If you are using your own webspace, you can right click on the photo and select copy image location. Then you can paste the url into your profile.

The same goes for putting an image into your comments. You'll want to use the html code for inserting an image. If you are using one of the photosharing sites, you should be able to cut and paste directly. If not, you can use the image url obtainted by right clicking on the image and copying the image location. Enter the following in your comment:
<img src="url-goes-here">. Make sure the radio button next to "Html" is selected under the comment form and you should be good.

Let us know if you have any more questions. :-)
