I'm learning alot but i still feel entirely clueless. Can you reccommend some good reading materials on not necessarely Akitas though helpful but the general category too. That covers some of the terms used like "primative" and a few others i cant recall at the moment.

If you go to the top of the forum and search for "books" you will get a couple threads with really good books listed in them..

The Other End of the Leash - Patricia McConnell - AWESOME READ - A MUST HAVE!!!

Actually all Patricia McConnell Books are great - "Don't worry I'll Be Home Soon" is great for separation anxiety, "Fiesty Fido" is great for aggression, she has a couple other one's that I haven't read yet.

Cesar's Way - Cesar Millan - It was ok, learned a good amount, but it kind of drags on more about him and growing up with dogs, and little tips and tricks here an there.

"Don't shoot the Dog" - Karen Pryor - GREAT READ! I really like her training methods.

"Control Unleashed" - Leslie McDevitt - This book is about stressed/fearful or distracted dogs. It helps to teach how you can help your dog be more focused or turn stress/fear into confidence, good book.
