    I rented a room from a lady in Chicago, she had a Rottweiler/Bernese Mt. Dog mix named Bear. Bear did this exact same thing, except he was kind of frantic outside the pool when "on duty". He would run around the edge until his pad bled, as he was making sure everyone was ok. He always jumped in after kids and would pull them to the shallow.

    It's pretty amazing what dogs can do just on instinct.
