Your Collies are beautiful (as are the Akitas). Is that one a dapple or double dapple?

That one of Yosho and Lulu pressing their heads together is precious!

Yeah...we love that pic..... It was taken on there first day together :)
I don´t think I´ll ever stop missing that dog.
It would have been nice to see some more puppie after him.
Unforunatly we had to put him to sleep at four years of age when he got an inoperable knee injury. :(

Brandon_w: Piper is a blue merle after a tricolored mom and a blue merle dad. We are not allowed to use only blm perents för a litter here in Sweden.

Do you happen to know the difference between blue merle and dapple/double dapple. I don't think you are allowed to use only blue merle here either.

Beautiful dogs and wonderful action shots. Thanks!

Well I did a little research myself. It seems that Merle and Dapple are pretty much the same thing, the term Dapple refers to this type of coloring specifically for Dachshunds.

Brandon now i know the differens.... Talked to my breeder whom has Smooths for nearly 30 years.
The dapple/double dapple gene is "normal" and doesn't bring healthproblems to the dogs and the Blue merl gen is (as I allready knew) a deffect gene that can bring deafness, blindness and white puppies.
You can therefor mate dapple/double dapple dogs bot not Blm with Blm.

Are you sure you can mate double dapple? I think that can lead to the same sort of deaf, blind, and white dogs, but I'm not 100% sure.

Neither am I... But that was the answer I got from her.
We need to do some more reserch into the subject :)
