Cost of importing a dog

What's the average cost of importing a dog from another country? Other than the actual purchase price. There are a number of foreign breeds that interest me, but the current #1 is the Jamthund from Sweden.

    The biggest problem you will have is with the horribly unstable value of the US dollar.

    I would expect to pay $1500 - $3k USD for shipping a dog, depending on the airlines, time of year, and value of the dollar.

    All 4 of the dogs we have had shipped, or arranged to have shipped, from Europe to the US has cost $2500 for shipping.
