So, I started a Shiba meetup here in Hawaii and we had our first official meet-up this morning! We had 4 Shibas total but we're hoping for more next month! Here are the pics:

I love watching Shibas play, they are so good together. I'm glad you started the meetup and sure the other owners are as well. Hopefully there will be one close when you move.

    Look forward to the videos.

Thanks guys! I don't really know what I'm doing but I figure something is better than nothing! The other Shiba owners are wonderful so that makes it a lot easier :-)

And boy does Ryu change in this group! Usually he is pretty domineering and "in your face" but guess who was the boss out of the four? Little AYA! It's amazing that the smallest of the four and the only girl is the boss! :-) I love her little face! It was pretty funny watching her and Pili play - I never thought I'd miss 4 month old Shiba play but I do! :D

Also, Tonka is a former show dog from Oregon/Washington area - I got so giddy seeing a fluffy Shiba lol

Jen: aren't their lazy sits the best?! I crack up every time he does it :-)
Dave: Ryu DOES have some competition huh?! haha He's such a ham - he's going to have to step up his game
Brad and Romi: You just brought back elementary school's relentless "SPAM" nicknames. Thanks. LOL j/k :-)

I've always heard females are dominant. They certainly do something to Jake that makes him stand back and take notice :-P

The two females in our home walk all over our poor Kitsune!
Wait until Ryu gets a sister!! You'll see!

Thanks for posting the pics, too bad we couldn't make it. Maybe next time.

pam - thanks for putting the pics. aya had a great time and relaxed for the rest of the day and the next. thanks for the harness too. she actually likes it or maybe too tired to put up a fight.

i don't think a lot of you have met pam, but she's the best. organized the group, getting the word out, had treats for all of the dogs and organizing our next meet up. pam - thanks for doing this for all of us on oahu.

No problem Derek! I'm just happy there are other Shiba owners that will let Ryu jump all over their dogs ;-D

I'm glad Aya liked the harness (for now ;-D) - can't wait for the hike this wknd!

Way to go Pam!!!!! Looks like the meetup you started will be your Shiba legacy after you leave the island. :-)
  • edited November -1
Did you guys have the place to yourselves?

It rained right before we got there so the park was empty except for the shibas (and a wiener dog that a potential shiba owner brought along). The timing couldn't have been better really. Moach was a dick when we brought him in and spent a bit of time on leash until he figured out that bad dogs don't get to play. I like the picture of him sniffing the magazine lady’s Sony alpha; you can tell he wants to pee on it (heck, if I could make it my property just by marking it, I'd pee on it too.)

I was impressed by all the dogs, but I thought Inuki really stood out, she was a beautiful dog and very shy. I also liked Hiro’s attitude, he was probably the most outgoing and was also fairly friendly with people. Thanks again to Pam and Tim for organizing the event, we’re looking forward to the next one.

It was a fantastic time! I was so happy and surprised to see so many show up :-)

I hate that I'm leaving next month! So I scheduled three meetups LOL

Oh! And diggah's comment about the "magazine lady" is referring to Mary Long from Hawaii Pet Magazine who is going to do an article on our meetup! :-D
