Storm / Sunset Pictures
We had this crazy storm move in to the area we live last night right at sunset - it was really crazy, it turned into a dust / thunder storm. The views it created were some of the most amazing landscapes I have ever seen.
These pictures are in order as the sun set and the dust storm moved in...
Some other views...
Three peaks [from my office]:
Back/Side yard:
From our bedroom balcony:
----
You can't really tell this from the photos but those bands of reddish orange was dust. The dust would get picked up and swirled into the air then move past the house in these giant sail shaped waves. It was pretty spectacular.
The shot of the back yard - note the house off in the distance look like they are on fire. The storm hasn't reached them yet [about a mile away]... That's what was really crazy, it was totally clear all day then I started grilling outside for dinner and I looked behind me and this giant black death cloud was moving in. By the time we finished dinner [about a half hour from then] we were running around getting the dogs inside because we thought they may blow away!
The weather here on the mesa, since we sit right at the foot of the Sangre De Cristos and at a high altitude [7500 feet] can change in a second. Its really volatile and interesting - its truly extreme at times.
