Violence at Akita Inu show in Japan

edited July 2008 in Akita (秋田犬)
A few days ago, a news paper reported that the Japanese Ministry of Culture has requested AKIHO (Akitainu Hozonnkai) to stop sponsoring shows which give out placements such as BOB, BOS etc.

This administrative guidance was issued as a result of repeated incidences of violence, bribery etc. over the judging at Akita shows.

The purpose of AKIHO is to preserve Akita inu as a cultural breed.

This letter questions the relevance of giving out placements if the objective of the show is to preserve the breed.

Obviously, AKIHO and JKC have different objectives, the purpose of shows and must be different with each organizatrion. A beauty contest is one thing and preservation of indigenous animal is another.

Probably similar guidance will be done with NIPPO.
