Creature Leisure Dog Den

edited July 2008 in General
Has anyone here ever heard of or used a Creature Leisure Ultimate Dog Den?

I'm thinking about making some changes to my crate situation and thought it might be nice to have a good travel crate or two. They seem pretty cool. They collapse front to back which is a unique feature from what I can tell (most collapse top to bottom) and also makes them much smaller for transport. I'm just a bit concerned that they can be chewed through.

Thanks!

This looks similar to the Port-a-crate ( http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2755174 ) that I had when I first got Jazz. I can bring it to the next meetup, if you like. It did pretty well, but Jazz figured out the zipper thing pretty quick.

Does it lock in place once it is open? My only concern would be if it collapsed on the dog accidently if something fell on it.

Maui would chew through one of those things in a second.

the one that I have does - it's fairly sturdy to be made out of canvas.

If Lucy or Joey like to chew, or would possibly bang around with their paws (and claws) they are not a good idea. I have a crate similiar to that, with the mesh screens, and Nemo cut the door wide open with his claw. I replaced the screen and he still banged on there so much that the stitching is coming out. It's like he knew it was weak.

We have one of the port-a-crates that we use for Bella when we travel. It is great as long as we are there with her. She does have a tendancy to paw at the mesh screens, and I am afraid that she might scratch through it if we were not there. It is great for camping though! Super lightweight and easy to carry for hiking distances.

However, she has figured out the zipper, so we have to make sure we clip it when we put her in there!

    Thanks guys!

It does lock in place from what I understand (well, at least clip). I suspect it would collapse given enough force applied to it though.

I bought Joey a new bed to put in his crate and he destroyed it in the first 10 minutes he was in there while I was taking a shower. I guess that's probably an indicator it isn't a good idea for him. :-/

Yeah Dave, Joey just might not be ready for such nice things. He is a puppy after all.
