California Dog Parks???

edited August 2008 in General
I live in NC but my girlfriend lives near Newbery Hills, CA/ Thousand Oaks . She said that she was at a dog park in Thousand Oaks and thinks she saw a Shikoku. I was wondering if anyone on this sight has been to or still goes to that doggie park in Thousand oaks.

Also, I have visited with Brad several times while he was in Atlanta and had the chance to meet his family of dogs and his wife. I would always tell my girlfriend that she would have to see a Shikoku up close and personal.....any chance that if you do go to this doggie park that I could schedule a day that maybe she could meet you there so that she could see and interact with a Shikoku.

She has a little Chinese Crested that I would also like to see interact with the Shikoku. He does really well with other dogs except that he doesnt understand that he is a small dog. Go figure

Please let me know!!!

    Hey Brad,

I thinkm I have decided that after I get the Shikoku I am going to get the Rodesian Ridgeback...I am so in love with it. My parents are really happy they got him....he is so wonderful for a 4mth old 50lb puppy. He is goingto be huge...I have lots of pics of him

    Oops...way to big...
Brad, your going to have to teach me how to shrink it and add more at one time
  • edited November -1
He's handsome! So your already planning for 2 dogs? lol!

No worries on the size, I could write some code to shrink pics if they are to big, but I'm too lazy. :oT

To add more just hit edit in the top right of the post, and attach another pic. Or check this link out for instructions that LJ put together on other ways to add pics. [thanx LJ!]

Ridgebacks are pretty awesome dogs. They are very impressive to see in person, both their size and the ridge. Congrats on your future Shikoku and welcome to the forum.

  • edited November -1
What if I ask for the all expense paid trip first?

There are a good amount of members from California. Romi, Corina, Patty, ummm I know there are more.

whoever gets to Taos first, be sure to report on this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hum

(and now i'm done hijacking! sorry!)

I think the only SO Cal Shikoku owner is Corina, and she is not on the forum so much lately. But you could probably email her.

I, also, am from So Cal but I live in San Diego and we have never been to Thousand Oaks.

We all appreciate the work you do keeping us safe Lenny!

I'm concerned once you get a Shikoku puppy, and see how much energy they have, the US will be a much less safe place! [Due to your time being tied up dealing with a Shikoku pup] lol!

As for a gift... you got to meet Ahi, right? :o)

Brandon you can't meet Ahi because I know you will take her! :oP

For fun I just looked at the DB, this is the order of the earliest [still active] members:

    #3 ddowdemers
    #7 Michelle M
    #9 ShikokuSpirit
    #10 Lenscny
    #11 kwyld
    #13 Hondru
    #15 grandemu
    #26 brandon_w
    #48 MommyofNiko
    #73 JessicaRabbit
    #77 Edgewood
    #79 jmaxwell

That was the first page, I'll stop there. [Dave you are #106]
    ----

As for S. Cali members w/ Shikoku: ShikokuSpirit, ddowdemers, and grandemu.

Send them a whisper... If they think you're creepy or something, have them ask me who you are, I will vouch for you. LOL!

Ohh, and there is another Shikoku in Carlsbad, CA. (outside of San Diego)
  • edited November -1
That is so funny, Jay just asked me how many members there were when I signed on and I told him fewer than 100. Wow look how much your baby has grown Brad!!!
  • edited November -1
I know, its really cool... I'm very pleased. We now have over 400 members!

The coolest part for me is that so many of the most active members are some of the earliest. :o)

Dorothy was key in getting a lot of the early Shikoku owners to join. Some of them may not be active on the forum but still keep in touch with Dorothy - like Ahi's brother and sister.

    Thanx to all of you!

This forum has really grown a lot in the last few months. So thank you Brad for making it all possible and being a caring and responsible steward. :-)
