Tips for socializing a puppy to cats?
HI everyone?
Does anyone have any good tips on how to socialize a puppy to cats?
I have 3 cats and my new puppy and I am taking it slow with them, I just want to know if anyone has some good tips to go by?
I have the added problem that one of my cats is blind (from birth or from before I found him on the street as a kitten) so I have added a bell to the collars of the other cats, so he can hear them and defend himself. Which he is really good at, he is actually the alpha cat and is really intelligent, you would never know he is blind unless you move something he runs into it, because he has the room memorized. My concern is will Kenshin try and eat a bell? Does anyone have a bell on the collar of their shiba? I would only keep it on when he is out of his exercise pen or crate. One of the other cats is deaf and does not like to be snuck up on.
So far they have all been good but Kenshin is really fast and plays too rough for them, but they are being to nice to him and not retaliating, so he is not learning his lesson not to mess with them. I at first just had them smell each other through a screen, then one of my cats snuck out to smell Kenshin and they were fine so I introduced them one at a time to not overwhelm Kenshin. They all did fine, I have been having Kenshin watch while I feed the cats first. He sleeps in his crate at the foot of my bed and can see the cats sleeping on the bed with us. The only problem so far is while in his exercise pen, he barks at the cats and stares also doing the play bow. He also tries to bite, not hard but is right in their face and tail when I supervise him out in the open with them.
I have also taken him on my lap and kept him calm and treated him while Carissa holds one of the cats calm to get used to eat other. Today Kokoro and Kenshin both fell asleep next to each other, I have also seen Kenshin give a lick to Kokoro, and kokoro lick him as well so they are getting along pretty well so far.
anyone have any other tips?
Thanks

It sounds like introductions are going well. Having Kenshin as a pup will be helpful, when he is small, if he gets out of line the cats will be able to put him back in his place.
