It is great to see Ahi out and about...I was so sad to see her stuck inside while everyone else was outside having a blast....must of broke your heart to have to keep her in.
I plan on stealing my love, Hilo, from you. Don't be surprised if you wake up one morning to find him missing! I'll say I was never in Taos [ though, I might as well take the rest of your pack whilst I'm there, it's not like I don't already know all their names ! ]~
lol - You would have to pry Hilo from Jen's hands, he and Jen are like Velcro.
Also, knowing there names will not help since they don't come when called anyway. lol!!!

Bev - Jen is planning on making a hat from the the dog/alpaca fiber - a fleece lined hat. The issue is that the dog hair sheds a lot [big surprise], so she wants to use it to make something that will not touch other clothing very often. It should be VERY warm!
That's ok Brad, I'll wage war for Hilo! Moihahaha. ;p [ no, but I would never do that to you guys ! lol ]
They might not come when called, but at least I can identify them! I can confidently say if we were to put your pack into a lineup of 500 akita, kai, shiba, & shika I would be able to easily pick them all out ;p
That butt wiggle is just one of the best things in the world, isn't it? Kuma does it too and we love it. You would make a huge success marketing Hilo pillows, they already have a great commercial name that gets people's attention, given the alliteration, and they're very comfortable and warm :-) The photo of Ahi back on her spot is great, she seem to have this "finally!" look on her face.
Jen=Akita whisperer! I know it is best to wait for our Akita but it is KILLING ME!!! The crazy thing is we STILL Havent made a 100% decision to wait. I want my white male! (Or any male, I know color is minor-but any dog from Miisan is going to be amazing)
Heidi - She is spinning it by hand - she cards it then forms it then starts spinning it with some Alpaca fiber that is already carded. So its a 50/50 deal - the dog hair alone wasn't working well. Their is an artist in town who makes NF figurines out of dog hair. Her and Jen have been working together to come up with a good spinning method for it. We have a HUGE amount of dog hair - mostly Hilo and Ahi hair.
So she's not using a drop spindle or anything? I've actually heard that ghandi charkhas are good for dog hair, cat hair, angora, cotton, and other short fibres. They make very thin yarn, though, so not sure what you guys want the end product to be exactly. I've been saving up lots of dog fur, too, in the hopes of spinning it, but I haven't found the time lately. I did contact a local handicraft guild where they spin yarn, weave, knit and crochet, and they offer lessons and have a monthly meeting. Should be interesting!

Both the "pillow" and sleeper look exceedingly content --- thanks for sharing the pic!
