Ninja & Portia Spam @ the regional park (LOTS OF PICS)

edited August 2008 in General
So - yesterday John came home early from work and we headed out to this local park that i've been wanting to check out. We took a lot of pics - it was super nice and I plan to go there often! It's pretty huge and has lots of trails and a lot of grassy areas as well as a pretty big lake. We spent about 2 hours there walking around and checking out some spots...we didn't go on any trails though..it got kind of dark...next time we're going to check out the trails for sure!

Here are some shots of the lake

Portia vs Ducks - I think she has a higher prey drive than Ninja! She was so fixated on them and kept trying to go after them.

We found a large area that was about 90% enclosed with one way to enter and exit, so we decided to let the dogs run free a little bit...I know, I know...risky...but we did some attentive training and the dogs were responding very well. We only let them off for about 10-15 minutes and we were off on our walk again. :X

Here is a video of John, Ninja and Portia trying to scare some geese...but the geese barely flinched when they passed by.

What a nice find! Love the area where you can let the dogs loose, for a few minutes any way.
The first picture of you with your pups is adorable. John should have that blown up and sitting on his desk.

Wow. Looks like you guys had a blast! I love Portia's face in the first family picture... It is like she is saying, "Hmph. Why are you making me pose when there are DUCKS over there!!!"

    Beautiful pups, pictures, and park!

Wow, that park looks awesome! California has some really nice parks. :-)

I love all the pictures, especially the family ones. I think favorite is the first one of John and Ninja looking to their left. They look alike in that one. ;-)

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys! It was a REALLY nice place! Not as many people or dogs - but it was a weekday...im sure its more busy on the weekend...although I don't mind it being so empty! The area where we let the dogs off lead was HUGE! I was a little hesitant with Ninja...but John was like "JUST LET HIM GO!!!" and we just called the dogs to come from one side of the area to the other. Surprisingly...Portia was being less attentive than Ninja. We've been working with Ninja so much...we haven't been doing as much with Portia. She would get distracted and not come and do her own thing...but she wouldn't run away when we approached..so that's still good.

We will probably be going there again this weekend to go through the trails...i'll be sure to take more pics!

    Seems really cool!
Careful about the geese, they can get pretty aggressive and they though, mean little buggers. They can hurt a dog or a human, and they don't refrain from doing so if they feel they need to. They make excellent guards, too!

LOL!! Rui - I had NO IDEA! Wow...im scared now...I will be sure to leave the geese alone next time we go!

Im PETRIFIED of geese! Our old apt in Indiana we lived outside of a pond and Chad would feed the geese as they hissed and chased him. I would be safely tucked on our 2nd floor screened balcony.

LOL Rach! The geese actually chased him??? HAHA...man I wish you had that on video!
