Alaska Wildlife in my future (more off topic - sorry!)

edited August 2008 in General
I'm packing for an early morning flight to Seattle to set off on the inside passage cruise. I hope to share pics of Alaskan critters of sea (or maybe land, too) next week when I return. Wish me luck!

I can't believe I'm sweating bullets here in the August humidity and looking for hats and gloves and wool socks in case we walk on the glacier! It will be a welcome respite from the so-called "dog days of August" in Mn (no offense intended to anyone on the Forum!)!

I used to live in Juneau, Alaska...was raised there for 13 years.

Anything you bring, make sure it's water-proof or water resilient. A majority of the clothes you bring should be able to weather the wetness of it. Southeast Alaska has the largest temperate rainforest in the Western Hemisphere.

    Enjoy the glacier!

Here's an old picture of my 3 young rottweilers having a ball in front of the Mendenhall Glacier. That's not sand you're seeing in the background, it's silt (pulverized rock). Gosh I miss home...

LOVE Alaska! I went in 98 in July - was so happy, I've got pics of me standing on part of a glacier in shorts. The wildlife is great! We spent time at Denali Park, Seward, Portage, and several other places that I can't think of at the moment. Can't wait to see photos!

Our son lives in Juneau and we fly up often. Love to fish (Salmon), love to hike, and love to rent whatever vehicle is available and drive out away from towns/people. We flew up to Nome and that was a very interesting experience.Lots and lots of sled dogs. We drove up to the Arctic circle and saw so much wildlife: reindeer, musk oxen, bears, moose.
Truly the last frontier. A most beautiful place to see.
