Our Hike Today
We went on a hike today in an area called Questa on a trail called "The Columbine Trail". It was really pretty, the hike was a long a very clear stream.
Hilo went with us and was kinda talkative to all the people we met, not in a nice way either. It was out of character for him. He also has a hard time getting good footing on the rocky trails do to his health/confirmation issues. (
We didn't bump into any off-leash dogs tho - so that was great!
We followed a group of people that had some pack Lamas and the Lamas dropped a lot of poo on the trail, so that kinda sucked... Lama poo looks like a giant pile of large rabbit poo... kinda strange. \
On this hike we took Ahi and she wore a new pack we purchased, we got it for Kona but it ended up being to big for him. This new pack is a "Wenaha Dog Pack" the version we have is the "Explorer III 'Lightening'". I am VERY impressed with this pack - I'll add it to the "Product Reviews" thread on packs.
I bumped Kona up to 12lb in his pack for this hike, he did well - tho I could see he was feeling the added weight. He is just a few pounds away from the max weight he can carry - he is so strong, it amazes us.
Here are some pics, of course one with Kona and his pack. )
[the focus is all messed up on these pics, I dunno what I did wrong. I suck as a photographer]

*Note: Ahi only had 3lbs in her pack - we are starting her back VERY slow.

Glad you guys got to go though! Everyone looks like they had tons of fun! [ despite the poops ]
I feel bad for Hilo. ~
Kai are a lot smaller than I thought! Or is it just that Ahi is a monster ~
Chad said what a tank Kona is!
Hilo getting lippy with people?? How cute!
Osy - I think it's a bit of both, Ahi is big and Kai are surprisingly small, especially give their weight... I mean, Kona weighs more than Ahi!
Rina - The pack is freaking enormous! That pack is a small and was ordered for Kona, but it was huge on him so we use it for Ahi. I ordered a new one for Kona in size XS.

And please don't be so hard on yourself about photography...that's not nice.
Or maybe he is almost a 2 year old Akita now and starting to show some of the signs of maturity.
We start another training session this week, this will be our 8th obedience class this year. This time around we have 2 classes going at the same time - one on Tuesdays and one on Thursdays. So, since we are sending Lani to "Boot Camp" we will be taking Fuji + Kona on Tuesdays, and Hilo + Loa on Thursdays. I think that will help him work out some of his issues. He needs to get out a bit more too, its just been so hot the past few months Hilo has not wanted to do anything [hot to Hilo is anything above 70 degrees fahrenheit].

Didn't any one try to roll in the llama poo? Tenji would have loved it!
Surprised to hear that Hilo was a bit snarky with people. Hope that it is a short lived phase.
How did Ahi hold up with her new knees? She looks great!
What kind of obedience for Loa? I thinks she's perfect and I wish that she and Tenji didn't have the same dad (Mike).
PS You're the cutest...
I'm not seeing a focus issue in the pictures. If you think there might be a slight blur on some it could be, because of the bright sources of light and the shadows all in the same picture. Sometimes cameras have a hard time focusing and adjusting light properly in those situations, and do the best they can.
If it's an actual problem with the camera focusing, disconnect the lens, look at all the contacts to make sure they aren't dirty. Reconnect and then make sure your auto/manual switch is in the right place (or not in between).
Crazy Hilo is trying to scare people away. He's trying to make them think he's not the cute big ball of fluff he is and that he's big bad Akita :-)
I can't find anything wrong with the focus. It seems to be set to infinity, but that's not an issue for the photos you were taking.
