Soy Fields Adventure [picture heavy spam]

edited September 2008 in Shiba Inu (柴犬)
There are miles worth of soy bean fields if we take the uphill hike behind our house, so we decided to take Mylie out exploring tonight... She had a blast hoping through the tall grass and weeds. We came across about 2 dozen deer in one of the fields, but they galloped away so quickly I couldn't get a picture... Here's some spam from our little adventure :)

Seriously, great spam Melissa! I really like the shot of Mylie in the sunset. :-)

Man I need to move out of Atlanta. :-/

she's got to be at least 20lbs now, but she's small in stature, so she's pretty much all muscle. I don't think she's going to grow any more though. OH... I've changed her name too, she is officially called "Monster" now, she responds to it too ;)

Wow, Melissa... I am super jealous of your walks! Hmm, to move to NY or out west... That is the question... :)

NY is expensive, move out west! I've lived here all my life so I probably take the views for granted, and I think out west is way more scenic.

Up State New York is beautiful. When I use to live in Jersey we'd drive up there to visit my cousins...the landscape is just amazing.

Though, there's something very special about the mountains on the West Coast too.~

Nice shots!….Wow what a beautiful area and a beautiful day you had.

humm...I don't know if you keep track of what the farmer sprays and when on the soybeans. It doesn't hurt to be cautious since Mylie is close to the ground and of course sniffing around in direct contact. Sometimes farmers spray around the perimeters or between fields too to keep off the caterpillar larvae and reduce stink bugs. Hopefully they/farmer is using a bio management that is planet friendly.

Thanks snf! Great point, we actually considered wandering through the soy field but decided against it because we had already been walking for about 2 miles & had to head back home... We just wandered through weeds and tall grass and through the old soy fields that are no longer used (since we bought the land 3 years ago. We hate how many deer are brought to the area by these plants, they are the number one cause for car accidents out here.) The picture below mylie's giant tongue picture are the harvested soy beans, and about 3 ft in height :)

I'm just seeing these now - beautiful pictures! Mylie is huge (well, by comparison) now!!

I love these pics of the rural area, and what a fun place for your doggie! Especially love the "sun aura" pics... I always imagine their are spirits represented by those auras!

As to the deer, maybe would be fun to post a game camera and see what else is out there besides them!

Do you have a family connection to the soy fields, or just a pleasant surprise due to random real estate purchase by you?
