what is it with the names?

ive been watching dog show since kid and im still wondering why the names of the dogs are such a large thing like CH.MT/Y."A"B.JOE.RAMSES. REX it means something? is that a rule?

Show dogs have a Show name and a call name. They can be similar, or totally unrelated.
The stuff infront of the name usually shows what they've won, like Championship title.

Here's a good breakdown of titles. Canadian, but I'm pretty sure American equivalents are very similar.
