Farm Animals

edited October 2008 in General
Jay and I went apple, pumpkin, and raspberry picking on Friday. In addition to all the fruit they also had goats and chickens to keep up company. I love goats and chickens.

Very cool! We had goats and chickens growing up - they were a lot of fun to play with.

Awww, the babies are cute! Did bring home a good bounty? I haven't been picking in years. I should go again.

Farm animals are fun, and sometimes, creepy. My friend lives with his girlfriend, at her brother's place. It's a big farmhouse outside of a small town near Madison. They have a few animals there. I didn't get any pictures of the chickens, but apparently they will be getting more chickens soon.

I have not gone out to pick apples, I just buy them at the farmer's market. We did go out to a corn maze though, and I drank a ton of apple cider yesterday while watching football.

Goats. Apparently the brother, likes to wrestle with the goats, and they walk about the farm with him while he does chores:

The Donkeys. These guys kind of creeped me out. They would huff and puff, and move in slowly to get close, and then back off real fast. I left the donkey area pretty quick:

Farm animals are fantastic. I love spending the day at Indraloka Animal Sanctuary because its mostly cats and farm animals! Pigs are my favorite though, nothing like spending a day singing Elvis songs to a blind pot bellied pig!

    Great pics!

Goats are pretty cool! You know you can pack with goats? Pack goats are easy to hike with because they are small and they will challenge predators. I considered a pack goat too while I was researching my protection options.

A Donkey will kick your ass [pun] if you are not careful, they can be pretty aggressive.

Goats are cool animals. In some areas of the world, with nomadic dessert (middle east usually) people they are currency, pack animals, and food. They have many uses. Also, goat curry is really good.

Brad - Part of the reason I was creeped out by the donkey's is because I know that they can attack sometimes. I was not interested in getting kicked by a donkey.

Sheep > goats. I wish I had my 4-H pictures on this computer, but here's what I could scrounge up.

How could you resist these little guys? Black Welsh Mountain Sheep lambs, one of the cutest baby animals on earth. The picture does not do them justice.

Sheep are also awesome... Very nice and fluffy. :)
One of these days, I will have enough land to have them all!

Farm animals are cute, most of them.
Except turkeys. Turkeys are dangerous creatures, so are geese. They can attack without much warning, and they're big enough to hurt.

I got a few pictures from a small farm we visited last year, and horses from Arraiolos.

Love all the animals! Keep them coming! I have nothing to contribute except some pics of buffalo from our trip to S.D. a couple summers ago. Custer State Park. Some people raise buffalo on their farms, so I guess they qualify as farm animals, but these are officially property of the state of S.D. (I guess). Also, one of a donkey (there are numerous donkeys in the park which are left overs (many generations back) from the gold miners who went prospecting in the Black Hills. Guess they are semi-wild now...)...

That's awesome Jessica. I went Pumpkin picking on Sunday at Apple hill (a good 8 hours up north from where I reside). I wanted to get apples too, but there weren't any left for picking, they were already picked -frowns-.

The only wildlife there was a wolf named Jack, a very friendly fellow ( http://www.nevercrywolfrescue.com/ )

    The baby goat is cute!

I love the baby pigs and the sheep too!

When I move and aquire the property for it, I will hopefully be getting a flock of Sheep and Llamas. The horses are a given, I'm actually working on getting me a nice gymkhana eventing horse within the next year or few years or so.

Great photos! I have my favorite species, but I think I just love animals!
