Question about excitable behavior

edited November 2008 in General
Hi all. My brother has a Shiba Inu named Keilee. I do not know much about dogs in general so I thought I might ask some questions to get some insight.

Keilee sometimes will run around in circles like crazy and bark, go into a pouncing position where her tail is down and repeat. This behaviour doesn't seem to be in response to any human interaction so far as I can tell. I could just be sitting on the computer and she'll start doing this. It seems like this generally occurs shortly after she does her "business" outside.

Anyone care to shed some light for someone who doesn't know much about puppies and Shiba's?

The circles are affectionately called "The Shiba 500" and the pouncing position is a bow where the shiba is inviting play.

Ah, one of the joys of being owned by a shiba. The shiba 500 is my favorite thing to watch.

Yep! Perfectly normal for this breed. Honey will be almost asleep then all of a sudden she will BURST up and start to race around the house. It's SUPER CUTE! HAHAH Wait till you see the "after bath" freak out! HAHAHAH SOOO FUNNY!!! I bet you can find a few videos of shiba's doing the 500 on youtube!!!! i think I even posted one of honey on here!
