LOL! that is great. It makes me reminisce about the squirrel parts our dogs thought we would enjoy last summer
I hear from Hachi's new owner that she is an incredible mouser and is very cat-like in her presentation of said mice. My mom's terrier mix would kill baby birds and snakes and just leave them, not give them to us. Is it a nihon ken/cat thing?
Our dogs on the farm used to bring us things like snake and opossum and birds and rabbits. They could never quite understand why we didn't seem as excited as to receive them as they were to give them.
I think they did actually eat the "yummy parts". *barf
I guess a little bird is better than a chipmunk, squirrel, opossum, or snake. I guess. \

Side note: That bird must have been pretty stupid, there are plenty dog-free(er) areas around here compared to our yard. I guess he was related to the dumb sh!t birds that kept flying down our chimney this past summer.
Mine are always so disappointed when, after carrying home some "prize" discovered on a walk, I won't let them take it in the house. My personal favorite was the three soggy dead baby opossums (one for each! LOL). Groundhogs are a treat too.
Some are critters that they kill, others are "predead" that are fun to carry around and roll with.
I'll take roadkill over feces any day! Over Thanksgiving, Ichi revelled in rolling around in the in-laws back yard and managed to cover himself in some feces of another animal (possum, cat, who knows?). Thank GOD the in-laws had some baby, tear-less shampoo I could use to give Ichi a bath. However, the spouse was not amused at me calling Ichi, "shitbeard" for the rest of said weekend.
I'm surprised there was anything left to give you --- My hubby tells me that Josephine caught a little bird like that up at the farm not too long ago, and ate it, feathers, beak, bones and all! And we obsess elsewhere on this forum about a few grapes!
LOL I love that upon finding a dead bird in the office the first thing to do is take a picture!! (I would totally do the same thing...) Such nice babies for bringing you a treat :oD
After hearing all this, I'm really loving that I live in the city! There was an incident with a dead baby opossum, but that was only once. No dead birds or random roadkill.
Great picture! Poor bird, it had no chance - it's out of the gene pool. My dogs have never killed anything (at least not yet?).
However the cats have brought in a few gifts: Lizards mostly and a small bird! The bird Fiskars caught was still alive though, I checked it and it was unharmed, so I let the birdie fly back into the wild. Cutie and Chloie (previous cats) would kill jack rabbits and eat them. Lizards...all of my kitty Clan would eat (Cutie, Chloie - sister to Fiskars, Sarah - mother to Fiskars and Chloie, Fiskars and Mia. I miss my Clan, my 3 other kittys were mostly outside and have since vanished -frowns- <--- in case some of you might be wondering what happened to them).

I'm surprised they didn't just eat it!

Brad, I came home to a chipmunk on my doormat the other day courtesy of Bella. At least she left it outside and did not bring it in.
