Thanks for the compliments on the harness. Not sure if you can see it but it's hangul that you're seeing on the design. I stumbled across it while I was looking for a puppia harness on ebay.
The white one would've been cool too but it would've gotten dirty real fast.
Jessie- love the harness! you're in costa mesa area? I know there are a few members in So cal, but I wasnt sure quite where. I used to live down that way, and my parents are still in Huntington beach. I should be heading down that way end of march and again with the new puppy in May (going to Disneyland. YAY)
I guess I'll get to check out some of those "bark parks" too : )
Hey Andrea, I'm in Irvine actually, but the meet-up happened in the Costa Mesa Bark Park right by the Orange County Fairgrounds. Keep an eye out on the Hunting Beach Shiba Inu group on meetup.com as they average a meet-up a month (right now it's practically every other week). There's a chance we may run into each other at one of those get-togethers.
Jesse- It would be fun to stop by if a meet up happens while I'm down there. Currently I live up by San Francisco in the Bay area. I'll definately have to look into some meet ups and dog parks around here to : )
I'm in the east bay (about 40 min outside of S.F.) so you wont be to far. If you'll be out for a bit we should get together. I'll have my lil furry bundle of joy then with full round of shots so he can come out and play in the parks : ) I'd always love to meet anyone from this forum. You all have been so great and welcoming. I kinda feel like I'm missing out on those central/east coast meet ups!
There are others in Nor Cali on this forum too? no?
My cousin is getting married, so I'll be sans Jazz. I'm coming in on a Thursday and leaving on Monday, mainly so I'd have a chance to meet anyone on the forum & do some sightseeing - I've never been to San Fran.
YAY LJ is comin to town! *tinge of sorrow strikes at thought of not meeting jazz*
congrats to your cousin! San fran is definately a cool place to visit. I dont go much though cause I cant drive in the city to save my life! public transport there every time.
You'll love it. Lots of history and much fun to be had! Shoot me an email or something when you are coming out : )
ok, now me and San Fran will stop hijacking the thread. sorry Jesse.
Alright, So today marked the end of the second set of obedience classes that Ichi has attended (Puppy and Intermediate). It also marks the 2nd set of classes I have attended with Nobu and Delilah (and their respective owners). See pictures after the age comparison. Ironically I was wearing the same shirt (unintentionally) that I wore for the last class of puppy obedience today!
I also took a few shots of him around the house. Here's something interesting. The first shot is from within the first month of when we brought him home in October 2008. The second shot is about 2 weeks ago. Eerie how a dog can grow and still look the same.
And if you look closely...that's right, today was also Ichi's first day modelling his new B&G Boutique Swag!!! Thanks Pam! It all matches his crate cover perfectly (which I'm sure Dave can appreciate).
Congrats on obedience graduation! All the shibas look wonderful!
And I know what you mean... I think Tsuki's puppy pics are just adorable, but she still maintains some of that cute as she grows into a little lady... I see very little differences, other than size and markings!
Hey Romi, Thanks and yes, due to a lot of desensitization work by Nobu's mom, and Delilah's mom, Ichi will actually approach them and sit begging for a treat (even our female PetSmart trainer). The petting is still a bit of work away but he will sniff their hands for a "touch" and then sit expecting his treat. He's a work in progress but he doesn't shy away as quickly when it's him that approaches them on his terms. His shyness has decreased and his assertiveness has increased as he got older (and bigger). I measured and weighed him at PetSmart yesterday and he stands 15.75" at the whithers and weighs 23 lbs at 7.5 months old (Big feller).
As for dogs, he's actually become more and more confident, tolerant and playful. I took him to the Bark Park on Tuesday and there were only a half-dozen dogs there other than him in the small breed park. He actually started to run around and chase a little min pin darting here and there. He is a medium energy dog and doesn't really give an all-out chase. In fact, he'll be chased and give chase, but as soon as it starts getting to excited and possibly escalate to a predatory chase, he'll stop. Truth be told it was a sight to see because he's never been that playful in the dog park before and I've taken him there on at least 2 dozen other occasions.
He's more aloof towards "forward" and "high energy" dogs but he'll initiate the appraoch if dogs are of the same energy level or lower than him.
Congrats to Ichi for completing his second obedience class! He is growing up to be such a handsome dude! And his B&G gear makes him look very exotic! (And I really like the fact that it matches his crate cover!)
Great Job! Love the pictures....They all look beautiful and content.
The crate cover is beautiful too. I have had some who have not behaved as well, pulling any material through to shred it....
Also have had a few that will stick their paws through the bars to dig at dry wall or rock the crate across ending at the wall to dig : (
I have backed a wall or two with plex sheets cut at home depo and and all locked down a few crates against studs to prevent movement.
