I met my first Shiba & Japanese Akita! :D
SO I went to the Central Florida Kennel Club Dog Show on the 13th of this month. I really wasn't expecting to see any Shiba or Japanese Akita, but I was praying...
First off, let me say the dog show was a lot of fun. Pretty much there were two buildings, witha yard in between them that was a little like a fair. Each building was split in half; half of the building there were 5-6 rings with the shows going on, the other half was where all the dogs were being groomed.
So, we walk into where the dogs are being groomed & my sisters says..."SHIBA!" haha so I FREAKED! The breeder was from Jacksonville, and was pretty nice. She had to Shiba with her, a father & a son [ 5years old & 2 years old ] She took them out of their crates for us to pet & play with.
They were both two GREAT representations of their breed. The Son was in the middle of blowing his coat so he wasn't as fluffy. He was super playful, & whined when she put him back in his crate. [ He really wanted to be petted & loved on lol ] The father was more "dignified" he was super fluffy & handsome & would except pets. ADORABLE!
They are also a little bigger than I had expected
You guys have no idea how happy I am that I finally got to see a shiba...it took me all my strength not to run off with the Son lol
Then, we proceeded over to the Akita area. I had warned my sister before hand that we probable wouldn't see any JA which she was bummed about, but then...again, she spotted two of them kenneled! They were the only two JA among 7 AA. I knew it had to be Miisan Kennels, so when the breeder walked over I asked him...and he said Yes! haha I met Donald, who was a sweetheart, & Douglas, who I didn't really speak to. They also gave some complements about you Brad
Miisan Kennels had a young female & male Red JA. Both of them were absolutely stunning! Got to give them lots of pets & scratches, the male was very licky lol
So I have pictures & video pending. I just have to work through 2, 8gb cards of RAW+JPEG files :x

The rudest breeder was one of the AA Breeders. Though her dog was such a handsome loving man, she was a real Bitch

Glad the majority of the breeders/handlers were nice. One of these days I want to go to a real dog show.

Things did not work out the way I planned. At first I was supposed to meet a breeder's husband in Orlando to get one of her puppies. She then declined and said she would be more comfortable meeting her first, which I respect her decision.
I then just got really bummed out about it so I didn't go to Orlando. We then changed our rooms from Orlando to Naples, where I saw a Shiba at a puppy store... They were selling him for 1200! He also seemed sickly IMHO.

Im oozing with jealousy that you met Miisan Akita's. I have only talked with Michael but they are AMAZING breeders!
But I've never met a Japanese Akita, Shiba, Shika, Kai, Hokka, or Kishu...now I can strike two off of my list
