YAY! Now I do not feel like such a freak when I take Bella to the playground. :-D She LOVES it. (which is why I want to get her into agility this summer)
I have to say you should be careful with the stair climbing and other activities that strain his joints too much. He's still a puppy and his bones and joints are still developing. I know he's not a large breed dog, but still you should keep exercise moderate until 5 or 6 months.
The exercise you're referring to is the climbing of stairs right? Because I thought taking puppies for walks was necessary at a young age (albeit mine didn't go for more than a mile).
Rui is right. I was told by Miko's breeder and her vet to keep exercise limited for the first 6 months and stair climbing and high jumping limited for the first year.
Jesse - Yeah, climbing stairs is very demanding on a dog. Heck, it's demanding for a human! :-) My building only has 4 steps in the hallway and I carried Kuma and down those until he was 6 months and the we'd go down the stairs very carefully and I was always supporting as much of his weight as I could. Walks are, of course, needed for their muscles to develop, but they have to be moderate and you build up on length and speed as they grow up. Beaches are not great until one year or even a bit more, loose sand is very hard to walk in. Kuma has never been to the beach.
Rui, Thanks, that is good info to know. The elevator broke in our complex and I've had to resort to Ichi using the stairs to go potty. I'll spoil him for a bit longer and carry him down the stairs to save his joints. I want to give my dog the best chance at being around for a long while.
brada 1878, the second dog is my mix dog that I got from a local shelter. She's 7 months old and thats about as big as she is going to get. I think she is a Chihuahua/Terrier mix. Her name is Farah.
Everyone else, thanks for the info in regards to the stairs and high jumping. I wasn't aware of the age limits on those activities and the dangers associated with them, aside from the obvious. I taught him how to go up and down steps three weeks ago, but he rarely is around steps to use them. I guess I'll have to reduce his exposure to it until he's six months old. Again, thanks for the info.
Banshee reminds me so much of Tenji at that age. Take more pictures!!
Of course I remember and I am so happy that you were able to get a Mike/Mura pup. Sorry that you are not in SoCal but happy for you that you are out of Pendleton.

BTW, he is SUPER adorable!
I LOVE him!!! ;_; ~
Keiko saw a slide once... she just gave me the "you've got to be freaking kidding me" look.
More spam, please.
Who is the little pup that met him when he got down the slide?
