What type of dog?

Hi,

We are looking into adopting this little 8 week old female cutie. We have been told she is a japanese akita but we think she maybe crossed with something else. Any ideas? Do akitas ever have pink noses and defined patches?

After you adopt her you could have her DNA tested just to feed the curiosity. Who cares what she is, she's adorable!

Ditto to what Jess said. :-)

I don't think she's a Japanese Akita. That coloring would be more typical of an American Akita. But even then, I'm not convinced. Either way, who cares?

She looks like an adorable heinz 57 to me!

My, you'll be busy with 2 pups at home.

we were only really concerned about how Simba would react if she was crossed with another breed and as only recently adopting Simba not fully aware of how Akitas react?

Each dog is unique in how they react. Socialization makes the biggest difference, not the breed. Downplay the akita thing and they should be ok being raised together if you work at it.

Look at Brad, 4 Akita, 2 Shikoku, 2 Shiba Inu,2 Caucasian Ovcharka, and a Kai.
You can handle Simba and a puppy! I know it!

She is cute! What sweet eyes! She looks like an Akita mix to me - the pinto coloring is common in American style Akita and old-world Akita. The nose coloring just points to some pigment issues in her bloodlines, nothing serious.

If Simba accepts her then I think you will have no issues as long as they are allowed to interact daily and play. The key is to let them get their energy out playing so they are to worn out to argue. :o)

I would take Simba to meet her. Make sure the chemistry is good, but the girl is a pup so the transition for Simba will be easier.

    Hi guys,

Thankyou very much for the advice. We have been offline for a while due to a nasty virus which stopped the lap-top booting up. She went before we could get through to meet her in the end. Was gutted but am sure there will be others. It may be a blessing anyway as simba is very much taking up all our time at the moment. Love him to bits but he is a handfull!
