Kenzo is a dashing young man! Congrats on bringing him home. Give him some time to get comfortable with those stairs. He may just start running up them -grins-.
Wow, 55 lbs at 10 months. Impressive. My Shikoku boy, Shoushuu, weighed in at 41 lbs last December at 15 months of age. I tend to keep my dogs a bit on the "trim side" though. So he should have been around 43 lbs at "Show weight".
Nice big fellow you have there! his face invites to squeez his cheaks :) You know if Kenzo is the only big Shikoku of the Van Veghel Kennel or are their Shikokus in general bigger? Im very interested in these big guys cause they look even more alike a wolf :)
Concerning your stair-problem: give him time, dont force him and the use of loads of tibits will help him overcome this!
I have the opposite problem with my pup, shes around kenzos age but much smaller(purebred bulgarian streetdog:), but she loves to race up and down stairs and yesterday she even climbed a stonewall 1,5 m high...climbing up was not much of a problem, but she then tried to jump down at full speed...her landing was not very elegant and now she's limping a little bit... but thats life :)
I wish you a nice time browsing through the forum - theres always to find something interesting :)
